  20. i use an Audi A3 1.8T because: - not a Diesel (yes modern Diesel's are excellent, but....) - reasonably compact - nice torquey engine (er, just like a Diesel) - not an estate car er, perhaps you'd consider an A3 1.9T (130ps) ? ..actually A3 ride and chassis are a bit pants - but just makiing the point that you don't need a big car to tow a caterham and a minno
  21. in my experience most caterham lighting problems involving more than one lamp not working can be traced back to dirty dashboard switch contacts The grease used in the switch mechanism can spread to the contact area and prevent current flow etc. You can test the switch function by shorting the wires at the back of the switch, and checking lamp function - if lamp on when wires shorted then switch needs a clean. just unscrew the appropriate switch, lever/open-up the back and clean the contacts - only takes 5 mins. Regards, Will
  22. I've got a standard 115bhp 1.6 K-series (academy spec). Compression test results (PSI): __CYL__COLD (20degC)__WARM (40degC) ___4____220____________215 ___3____170____________210 ___2____220____________220 ___1____220____________220 Why so different cold vs. warm on cyl 3 ????? (i've recorded the same results for the engine before and after re-build) Any tech info much appreciated - thanks, Will Edited by - wfarrell on 19 Jul 2004 09:40:15
  23. graeme, be careful about overfilling your sump - otherwise you might suffer crank oil whipping - if the crank contacts the oil the crank basically whips up the oil, firing it all around the crankcase cavity and aerating it proir to the pump which can cause low oil pressure / scavaging probs / bearing failure etc etc. i suggest fill it too full on dipstick - not beyond :)
