  1. My clutch pedal sank towards the floor. Gear selection became difficult. I adjusted the cable to get the brake and clutch pedals level with each other. There is still difficulty in gear selection. Is this a clutch release bearing problem or operating lever problem or other?????
  2. I had some very good spanners stolen many years ago. I replaced them with Draper Professional range tools and I have found them to be very good. They are not beautifully finished, but they are acccurate enough and strong enough for the (now low activity) home mechanic. The ratchets do not feel good but they seem to last rather better than makes from the 50s and 60s such as King Dick. Metrinch spanners and sockets are jolly good to carry in a Seven. It reduces the number of tools to carry without using horrid adjustable tools.

Brand new 14' tyre for sale. Best offer over £45 please.
  4. This happened to my odometer at 20 000 miles last week! Caterham cars advised me to buy a new speedo rather than try to have it repaired. This seems a remarkable coincidence at just under 20 000 miles. Mine also did not complete the roll over to 20 000 and has 000 s almost in position. The speedo still works fine. I have ordered a new one for £95.

My hood blows off in a wind from the windscreen attachments. Is it likely that the press studs on the screen or on the hood or both are worn?

Which plug was the original equipment on K series 1.8 Supersport?

I should enquire about a price for both but would prbably end up buying new, being paranoid about such things. Are the wheel bearings Ok? (Just an after thought.. I don't know how much effect it has, but could one disc be wobbling around a bit more than the other before and in the initial phase of pad contact onto the discs?)

    First Upgrades?

I agree with the last comment and if track driving does not appeal, take some instruction on the road from an expert.
  9. My car has had a horrible clonk in the drivetrain since it was built. It has not changed in 6 years. i have just learned to drive more smoothly to hide the clonk.
  10. Is it ok to use WD40 for rubber bushes? I have always used Holts rubber lubricant spray fro sqeaky rubber bushes.
  11. I have a leak in the nsr light unit. I have cured it by drilling two 4mm holes in the lamp glass.

    brake disks

There are good photographs on the Alcester Racing site, and the Haynes Brake manual is very good.

I should think of either a sticking caliper piston, a sticking sliding caliper or, occasionally, deterioration on the inside of a flexible brake hose may inhibit fluid return and keep thepressure partially on an individual piston caliper. Flexible hoses are often forgotten and they do have a limited life.
  14. Thank you. I shall have to remove the inner skin to place a washer. I shall try a bigger rivet first.
