  2. sorry only just seen your post. not superlight, just a common old road sport with a few extras are u local? vinnie Blue & Silver Supersport-R
  3. blimey Ducati 998, in a Caterham, mmmm that will be a clutch every 1000 miles then!!!!!! ZX12R seems the best bet from a biker owning Caterham driver point of view type thing! vinnie Blue & Silver Supersport-R
  4. I had this converstion done about 4 months ago, and can recommend it being carried out, this has completely transformed my car, lot of money, but car runs faultlessly (inc low speed) paid extra for uprated clutch, uprated big ends, and valve retainers, also went for R500 non cat exhust, 13" 8 spoke wheels and cr500 tyres i went from standard 1.6 (115bhp) to the 160bhp, already got 6 speed box, so a real flyer now LOVE IT! next stop uprated braked i think, or was that a aero screen?, or carbon wings and arches?... mmmmmm maybe should have got an R400..... still its only money vinnie
  5. do any of you guys know what is causing this? done about 2000 miles since supersport-R converstion and on 4 different occasions now I have had a bad stutter from the car, Feels like fuel stavation. Anyway each time this has happened it is after a long run then a short break (anything from 2 mins to 20 mins) then fire her up, pull away and a kangeroo up the road. seems to clear after about quater of a mile but is a bit worrying any ideas PLEASE!!!
  6. I had my 12k 1.6 Road sport converted to Supersport-R at caterham, also fitted uprated big end bearings, and valve retainers and yes it cost more that other tuners, but at the end of the day i now have a 1.8 and all the benifits that the extra cubes bring ie torque. I would also hazard a guess that the 1.8 is under a lot less stress at a given output than a 1.6 engine Plus a 1.8 will sell for more come resale time. just done 650 miles over this last weekend and the grin is starting to fade a bit now NUFF SAID EH? vinnie
  7. thanks paul, hope u have a great trip, be nice to see those pics
  8. just removed original 14" wheels and fitted 13" with lower profile tyres too, I have now decided that i will do away with all that unwanted mass hanging out over the back of my pride and joy!. question is what the hell do I now do with all that frame work hanging out the back??
  9. got a weird feeling this is going to hurt!! (my wallet that is) just been out for a blat around the villages (slowed while in them of course!), and now know that that 3.5k is drifting out of my back pocket!
  10. hey thanks for all the info guys, I think i will call into dartford and have a chat with the guys there. charles, it was nice to hear that you are pleased with the ss-r conversion, what about low engine speed running with the roller barrels?, any probs after the conversion? this blat chat is great I am well impressed!!! (I have led very shelltered life!!!)
  11. I understand about the-trade in situation if engine work is not carried out by caterham, but is there anyone out there withdirect experiance of the supersport-R conversion, or a equivelent from another tuner (DVA, QED, etc)? would be most grateful for any info. by the way WHAT A CAR!!!! might even have to sell my beloved fire blade
  12. b ut my real point is about how good the caterham conversion is? and do i really need to be looking to stroke that lovely revvy motor?, and what about those roller barrels? so many questions!!!! help me!!!!
  13. hi, new to this web chat type thing but could really do with some advice right now!!! I currently have a base 1.6 k series road sport and am looking for a good up grade for my baby, done quite a bit of research and am now a bit baffaled as to what to do next. I would like to hit approx 160bhp with about £3k-3.5k to spent, is it best to go the caterham after sales route and take it out to 1.8, roller barrels etc, or what about some of the other offerings (QED, etc), and maybe leave the cc's alone. I love the revyness of the 1.6L which works really well with the caterham 6 speed box, and dont want to lose that by going to a longer stroke 1.8l (maybe I wont but would appreciate any comments). I'm in kent and does anyone know any good k series specialists? As a web virgin please be gentle with me, vinnie
