  1. Anyone have an old metal dash after cabron upgrade ?

Looking to work on new dash for friends can and remove all the un-wanted cables. Old tired dash would be perfect for mocking up the guages/cable lengths etc. Having done this on a car once its a lot easier to do it on the bench *smile*

  2. If you are going to buy one, buy it once and get a RaceCo. Brilliant product, beautifully made, repackable and a faction of the weight of competitors mentioned.

Have a chat with Ammo to make sure fittings are correct as they are "tailored" for each application.

  3. If it is a newish garage, you could put a good dehumidifer in there, with hose to rain butt/storage.

Air-chamber is great, but struggle with single garage and up/over door. Have one for 964 and it is first class.

If you are looking for secure storage away from garage there is a nice place near Arundal castle (location descrete so i wont mention)

  4. Andy, std Hi-spec rear kit should work well with Sierra rear discs. Appreciate caliper/hub may need machining for live axle set-up. Try hanging on to the discs as I am sure there is a solution in there somewhere *smile*
  5. Mike, appreciate that there is a bit more work, but put mine in the boot to try and balance the weight of the car a little. It also keeps the battery out of the hot engine bay.

Your suggestion is perfect though if boot space is at a premium.

  6. Hi, helping friend refurbish his dash. We have water (thanks Martin) oil, fuel, speedo. Looking for;

    1. Rev counter - tricky bit is that it needs to be >8000

    2. Light rocker switch

    3. Flasher switch

    4. Indicator lamp

    5. Main beam lamp

    6. Ingnition lamp

    7. Big red starter button

    8. Big black horn button

    9. Brake warning switch

Fully appreciate we can get these from Caterham, just wondering if anyone has upgraded their dash and has these sitting on the shelf :-)

    Many thanks

  7. Welcome guidance please.

Is the brake warking swith (on LHS of dash - for RHD car 😬) a legal requirement.

I know it was never questioned in my 1992 chassis at MOT team, just wondering. If its nice to have may strip-it out of the new loom for Friends car which is going on an essential diet.

    Many thanks

  8. Afternoon everyone,

I am helping a friend with a re-wire and picked up new loom from Caterham this morning (it was the last one and without a bag so we think its a mid 90's injection loom).

In preparing the loom we will take out all the elements we do not need i.e. reversing lights, rear number plate light, wiper switch/power, washer switch etc etc.

Most of the loom is fine...but there is a new connector which is different to existing loom. It has 5 connections in a strip, but only 3 are used, and one is a thick yellow cable. It goes to the back of the car and is not lighting/indicators/fog/brakes/reverse. Is there a similar connector i.e. 5 pin strip for new types of pump ?

Any help would be most welcome.

  9. Paul, I can testify that the DITP air box is a work of art, but will not work with your trumpets - been there spent a fortune at Reverie as a consequence.

There are a set of 4 straight carbon trumpets at Swindon somewhere (they belong to me an Gary is trying to track them down). The trumpets came off a GP2 Astra rally car piloted by Robbie Head if I recall correctly. If Gary finds them you are welcome to them, as there are a very limited number of those lovely roller barrels around 😬

The air box will work with these, but the bonnet appeture will mean a second bonnet. Might be worth the investment if induction noise is an issue. DITP airbox will then be positioned as K2RUM

  10. Hi, if you have cage/roll-over bar, sealed floor etc, it can be a little bit of a hassle.

Might be worth un-doing the fixings and moving tank to nearside to get some room to take the pump out.

Vent pipe and fuel filler will need disconnecting.

Make sure as much of the fuel is pumped out (jack up N/S to get as much petrol to pump - baffles permitting), then its 6 bolts and a bit of wiggling.

    Make sure battery disconnected.

Worth replacing seal as a precaution when you do it as well.

If you are planning any engine upgrades and need to replace pump might be worth going for upgraded R500/Rover Tomcat pump

  11. Hi, sorry for any confusion, Q42H cam (the Q42c is the carb kit) from the website;

Q42H - The mildest camshaft in our range; quite able to be fitted to standard engines without the need for further mechanical modifications. When used with a suitably modded ECU this cam helps produce 185 bhp. Also an easily fitted cam to use with carburrated engines, producing 190+ bhp

Should be fine for first step 😬
