  3. Also, if you do have your oil analysis results back, how will you interpret them? Do you have a control set of results? Untill someone starts to log a trend of normal then leading to wear, it won't return too much info, as Bob correctly says.

We use oil analysis on our Jetrangers at the request of a major petrochemical co we contract to, but we are( as far as i believe) the first in the UK to do it.So, we are building a trend, and in time it will be a useful tool indeed, but the first result?. pretty useless.

The Cossie engine is proving huge fun btw Bob!

  4. Sorry about the delay in getting back to you Ammo.

It's got the YB Cosworth engine in it, built stunningly by Steve Richie. It's still turbo charged and inter cooled too, bit of a plumbing nightmare, but worth it. I go bike chasing, and having had a tuned R1 before, it was the one for me.Not only are the BHP figures there, but the torque is addictive, and find that more torque helps to control a car on the limit, rather than relying on high rpm/bhp.

My comments are not meant to be aggressive, just tongue in cheek, and wish you well on your build!!

  5. You can never have too much power, you can always choose not to use it.(I'll make an exception to that rule if we were talking 1000bhp that came in with a 200rpm powerband!!!)

    Mine has 290bhp

Luvverly, just concentrates the mind in the wet.........

  6. You guys might be interested to read the may issue of CCC, which features a back to back test of Duratec powered 7's, by Minster and Raceline. It's the May issue, I don't think it's out in the shops for a while yet,(friend prints it) but it's interesting reading. It has a Pike's Peak RS 200 on the front cover.

Keep an eye out for it.

  7. Mt Caterham has the exhaust on the driver's side. It's powered by the YB Cosworth engine and it's still turbo charged. The exhaust comes straight off the back of the turbo, out through the air filter holes in the bonnet.

So the answer is to turbo charge the Duratec.........lol

  8. I had a drive in this car when it was for sale at UK Sports cars, it's a stunning looking car, nicely prepared, and is certainly lively, it is a DeDion.

I was almost tempted, but saw the YB Cosworth Turbo car for sale at Paul Stephens, and bought that instead. However, as I went to collect the Cossie Caterham, I saw the Mango Orange coloured car sat there! Trying to tell me something perhaps!

  9. I too was looking at putting an intercom system into our Caterham,so will follow this thread closely. I work as Helicopter Navigator/observer, and use Bendix/king kit, with Peltor headsets, but we use Helmet Integrated Systems lids, which have Peltor kit in them, all good stuff and comfy too, but pricey as hell( lid is 1K+)
