  1. I'm interested in a pair, but like others will wait to see the photos. Dave
  2. Similar idea to giving them to the racing marshalls for training, your local St. Johns Ambulance or Red Cross would probably thank you for them for training in the removal of helmets at RTA's or sporting events. Dave. Edited by - Emily's dad on 31 Oct 2013 12:48:11
  3. Thursday Bickley Road and Friday Summer Hill, Chislehurst. Early evening on both occasions.
  4. Could have been me, blue with silver stripe, H1 7 DKM (new plate, slightly iffy spacing) I was in Wallington around that time, picking my eldest up from school.
  5. Possible Academy car white with numerous stickers and full race cage, exiting Elephant And castle roundabout onto New Kent Road. Couldn't see your index, was riding a motorbike heading into town.

  8. Can't see anything different about drivers or passengers sidescreen. The only thing that comes to mind is that I guess that the drivers side has probably been used more and might be more flexible through age and use. Only a guess as I haven't had the car from new. If I do end up buying mirrors I'd probably get something like this here as they'd look neater than the Caterham IVA fitting. 9. Is there any way of preventing movement in the door/sidescreen at speed ? On my way to and from Beaulieu yesterday got thoroughly fed up with not being able to see anything in my offside door mirror as at anything over 45mph the door flexed in the wind, moving the mirror rendering it useless. The nearside one wasn't a problem and didn't seem to get blown about at all. As a motorcyclist I have no problem doing a lifesaver check and I have started looking at getting mirrors that fit to the screen support but just wondered if there is an easy (cheap) fix for this or is it just another Caterham quirk that I have to become used to. Before anyone suggests going aero, that's not for me. Dave Edited by - Emily's dad on 2 Jun 2013 10:53:36
  10. Do any of you use these style of wind deflectors as found on ebay here or Caterhams own site here Are they effective, worth the money, whats your experience ? Dave
  11. Yes filler cover removed inside boot. On having another look there does appear to be a couple of allen type bolts to be removed. The problem is the heads are between the filler and the boot skin with no obvious way of undoing them. It may well be my next purchase are some tin snips to remove that small section of boot floor behind the fuel filler.
  12. Quoting pandjack: You'll need to pull the hoses from the fuel filler body & remove it completely This is what I can't work out how to do, what's the method of removing the fuel filler body
  13. Carpet out no problem. I''ve removed the 4 screws that hold the honeycomb section of the floor in. I can now tilt up the honeycomb floor to see the sender, but can't get enough access to remove to it. It appears that I need to completely remove the boot floor, but can't see how to do it without either cutting the floor or removing the fuel filler, which I can't work out how to do.
  14. I've got the gasket ready and waiting. I'm just not able to move the honeycomb section of the floor far enough out of the way, which is why I'm thinking or removing the fuel filler. I guess the other option would be to cut the floor.
  15. I have to start this query with two confessions: 1) I'm a mechanical numpty 2) I didn't build my car bought it used, so I don't know how everything fits together. Here's my issue I can't help but notice my garage smells of petrol. Searching on here I've discovered that the fuel sender gasket often perishes and needs replacing. Removed the carpet and the four screws that lifts the honeycomb section of the boot floor and I can see that the edge of the gasket is cracked and there is dampness around the sender. I cannot however remove the boot floor to allow full access to the sender as the fuel filler neck was obviously fitted after the boot floor installed. I have this style of fuel filler here I cant for the life of me work out how to remove the filler so I can remove the boot floor, any tips, hints or pointers ? I've unscrewed the 6 fasteners on the outside of the fuel filler but this didn't seem to loosen anything up. What am I missing or doing wrong ? Over to you for your combined wisdom Dave.
  16. That'll be me Didn't take long to get spotted as I only picked the car up on Friday. Unfortunately I was on my way to work and not out for a blat, had however spent most of the morning taking the wife, kids and in laws out for a small spin each. I'm sure I'll return the "spotted" soon, I'm just down the road from you in Beddington.
  17. Quoting BudJuggler: Quoting Emily's dad: Quoting SBD762: I used 3M 'Velcro' to hold plates on. If this 3M tape is velcro style does that mean the plates can easily be removed, say for example at MOT time to put a larger plate on. Dave Exactly 😬 If that's the case I'll be getting two sets of plates made up, some 3m Velcro tape bought, and change the plates as necessary. Thanks all. Dave.

  19. Very basic enquiry here. I want to fit new number plates on my car when it arrives. I have several queries about this which I'm sure you can all help me with. The front one appears to be stuck on with sticky tape or pads of some description. Looking on ebay there is plently of choice of double sided tape/pads that will do the job. Is there any particular brand of tape that is better to use or one that should be avoided? The rear appears to held on to the spare wheel carrier with a bead of silicon glue/sealer. Is this the best way to refit it, would the doublesided tape work as well or is that less effective on the curved surfaces of the rear wheel carrier? If silicon type fixer is best again is there a preferred option? I've read elsewhere that an effective way of removing the stuck on plates is to use floss to cut through the tape, any other suggestions on removing the old plates? Finally whats the best solvent or cleaner that you can suggest to remove the residue of the old tape that won't damage the paintwork, especially on the nosecone Thanks Dave.
  20. What's the recommended intervals for cam belt changes on a 1.8 K Series. I've seen various ages/mileages mentioned on line so not really very helpful The car I'm getting is 9 years old but has only done 5,000 miles. Obviously should have been changed long ago by age if not mileage, but don't recall seeing it in the service history. I'll speak to Caterham before I pick it up but wanted to be armed with the facts before ringing. Cheers All Dave.
  21. Thanks, but I've tried that. I get the message saying my profile has been updated, but it doesn't seem to work for me. Not the end of the world. Dave
  22. I'm new to the forum so may well be missing something. I'm trying to include my location on my profile, but when I enter it and click the submit changes, it doesn't seem to update. Is there a delay in updating details or am I missing something obvious.
