  1. I need four or five 6 by 13 wheels for a 2001 spec Academy car (de-dion axle). I don't need tyres (as I'll need all the tread I can get for the races). If anyone has some at a sensible proce, let me know... Cheers, Simon
  2. Did Elvington last year. Good fun, interesting layout with fast and slow bits and lots of run-off. Wide range of cars but no nutters so everyone had a good and safe time. Only problem is it eats tyres...very abrasive surface. I had four brand new RE720's and by the end of the day they barely had enough tread to be legal for the drive home, mind you it was an open pitlane day. Simon
  3. My Caterham will be coming home from its winter vacation soon and it needs a home as I've recently moved and no longer have a garage. I'm looking to rent a safe, secure garage in, or around, the Winchester area. If anyone has or knows of one available please get in touch. Thanks! Simon
  4. Excellent! Try calling me tonight on 01962 841614... Simon
  5. Standard height FIA Roll Bar 2001 de-dion £150 ono. Perfect condition (never fitted...discovered I needed the tall bar!). Stored in North Nottinghamshire.
  6. There's two of us here who will definitely be up for the sprint's. We'd probably aim to do all of them subject to holidays, etc. Cheers, Simon
  7. Chaps, Thanks for your replies. Chesterfield is closest so I'll start there and see if they can fit me in! Personally, I wouldn't go near Caterham Midlands with a barge pole. I never had any problems with the car until it went to Caterham Midlands to be repaired after a crash racing at Oulton Park last year! Cheers, Simon
  8. I need to get my car checked over and, in particular, run some diagnostics on the electrics and engine. It's currently near Nottingham, otherwise I'd take it to the 7 Workshop as normal. Can anyone recommend someone who knows their way around a 7 in the North Notts area? Cheers, Simon
  9. I'd recommend spending an hour at Caterham and taking lots of pictures of their cars, especially underneath and under the bonnet. I didn't and had to rely on the manual to figure out where things went. They may have improved the manual since I built mine a couple of years ago (Academy car) but there was a shortage of pictures/diagrams and some of the descriptions of where to fit parts where vague to say the least. Some were just plain wrong. Use this forum if you have any doubts...you'll get far better answers than you'll get from Caterham and you'll probably get them quicker too. I may have been unlucky but the problems I had building my car never seemed to be during office hours! Last recommendation...just because you can't find a part, don't assume you've lost it. There were quite a few bits missing from my kit, over and above the ones Caterham told me about (oh yes, you don't expect your whole kit to turn up in one go do you?) Good luck! Simon
  10. I had a bizarre problem this weekend at a track day and would be keen to know if anyone has had the same problem and what the cause might be. The symptoms are that under (fairly) heavy braking the engine misfires. If I keep my foot on the accelerator the engine will keep running but continue to misfire. If I take my foot off the accelerator it will just stop. Turning the ignition off and on again cures the problem (even while the car is still rolling) and everything is fine until the next time it happens. Have checked the oil levels/pressure and petrol filter and they look fine and there are no obvious loose wires. Car is a 1.6 K-series, about 18 months old with around 4K miles on it and less than 1k since the last service. Any ideas, 'cos I'm stumped! Cheers, Simon

    lydden

If you don't mind me asking, who's organised the sprint? I fancy having a go at Lydden as it's (reasonably) close to home, but hadn't seen anything that looked suitable for a Caterham. Simon
  12. Many thanks folks. If you don't hear from me again it's 'cos I'm busy cleaning and polishing...should keep me busy till Christmas! Thanks, Simon
  13. A bit late, but I'm in the process of removing the stickers from my Academy car prior to giving it a good polish. I've taken the stickers off but they've left a lot of sticky stuff on the aluminium body. Can anyone recommend something to remove this without damaging the body work? Cheers, Simon
  14. I had a similar problem with mine when I first got it. Turned out to be nothing more than one of the rocker-type switches not being fully depressed. When it happens now I simply fully depress each of the rocker-type switches and it always solves the problem. Cheers, Simon
