  1. I have to change my bonnet - I was thinking of getting one with a hole in it to allow me to use use longer trumpets for my DTHTBs. However will it increase the noise significantly thus getting me banned at Tracks ? I've got a 1.6 K-Series on Emerald ECU and mild cams (approx 160bhp). Cheers Sid
  2. .... but not that hot ! Took the car for a 15min blat yesterday, fan running most of the time, got it back and stalled it reversing it back into the garage 😳. It wouldn't restart. *mad*It would turn over (I've done the running hot, stop the engine, try and start and then nothing mod), but it wouldn't fire. Couldn't hear the fuel pump becuase the fan's too loud! Checked all the fuses, took the bonnet off and left it (no choice) for 10 mins. Finally I reset the emboliser (becuase it was behaving in a similar way to when the emboliser is on) and it started. Someone suggested the fuel was vapourising ? I have 3 year old K series with throttle bodies - therefore I have removed the charcoal filter (next to the water spray container) is this the problem ? Any help would be appreciated as I am leaving for a three day blat across the Pyrenees on Tuesday night and I'm still preping (it never stops does it ?) Cheers Sid
  3. Quick ones - do you have to remove the bolts coming through from the bellhousing when taking the sump off a K-series ? Is there a re-tightening order ? I've been sent a (large yellow) foam baffle to put in the sump - is it obvious how it fits ? Anything I should look for whilst it's off (done 12k) Cheers Sid W77 CAT

  6. Result ! I knew you guys would come through If anyone wants to know how I got on eMail me and I'll send you details Cheers Sid
  7. Again for what it's worth I love the Brookland screens. They're relatively heavy (compared to CF jobey) but they are adjustable and give a "bit" more protection. Very easy to swap over but you do need to do a bit DIY in connecting the screens and mirrors to the Ali strap that fits on in place of the normal windscreen. I love them. Cheers Sid
  8. No one got a handy Website with step by step instructions and supporting photos ? Or can point me in the right direction for sourcing a silve flat mirror on a tall stanchion ? We could be out of luck here Andrew ☹️
  9. Well my request for a list of things to check for as part of a 12k maintenance didn't fire you all up (me neither to be honest - I just want to drive the thing !). However, perhaps someone can help out here - I have Brookland screens and want to fit a central mirror to go with the wing mirrors. Has anyone got a solution that is Chrome, SS or Ali (White, black or CF no good) that is tall enough to see over the rear wheel ? Cheers Trying to be more interesting Sid W77 CAT
  10. Gareth, Really sorry to hear about the accident - hope thier insurance covers it. Sid W77 CAT
  11. Errr yeah, good point 😳 It's a De Dion K-Series 1600 with Emerald ECU, throttle bodies and medium lift cams. It's 3 years old and it's done about 12k. Cheers Sid W77 CAT
  12. Yeah I know, it's not the sort of thing you'd expect someone to ask for instructions on. But does anyone have a check list of maintenance jobs (you know greasing the nipples - that kind of thing). I'm going across the Pyrenees in August and want to make sure everthing is in order. Cheers Sid W77 CAT
  13. OK just to let you know how I got on. All was very straightforward as described with the following small exceptions:- 1) On Step 3 there are actually four brown wires (well brown and some colour anyway) coming out of the MFRU. I choose one of two of the thickest, as described, which happen to have the same colour code on them. 2) I positioned the relay just under the ECU which keeps all the cable lengths nice and short. 3) I wasn't too certain on the scotchloks so I only used them on the low amp wire (red and white Step 5) and God thier brilliant. 4) I used the one of the bolts on the bulkhead for ground (Step 4). Is this OK ? Not sure if it's sufficent ground as it's Ali. So the result was that it works and seems to give the starter motor more power - i.e. it starts straight away rather than after 3 or 3 goes. Took it out on Saturday in very hot weather, stopped at the petrol station and it started no problem. Result ! So thanks Chris and everyone.
