  1. Try to disconnect the "thin" wire from the starter, and then with another wire connect the now free point at the starter to live + from the battery, if you still get the click, even the new starter is out of order.

On the other hand, if the engine turns, then you have some kind of bad connection, and I'd start by suspecting the ign switch (or bushbutton).

  2. Never was a problem when I was a fireman, but does she really want to spoil her old and beloved car by the powderquestion.gif As it is alcaline, it'll make everything rust, especially as it is also hygroscopic. If the main issue is to put out fire, powder is fine, if it is to save the car, find an alternative! I don't know what you are allowed to use in the UK, personally I'd prefer CO2.

  4. Ian,

I have sent you an email with a cut of an old Lotus Seven drawing. From that one I'd say no if your door is excatly 1m wide.

By the way, if your end flips and Wendys doesn't, what happens then? confused.gif

  5. I'd suspect the solenoid if nothing happens at all, but if you turn on the light, you should see a reduction there as even the solenoid takes a lot of power. If not I'd suspect the ign switch, or an immobiliser, that prevents the live form the switch to get through...

    Good luck

  7. Could not agree more, but the funny thing is, that as I read the Danish rules, we do not have to fulfil the side impact test as long as the car was crashtested before '98 (ECE reg 12). As that seems to be done, the only thing missing for "general" use in Denmark is the pollution test, which I've been told can be done in Germany for about 500£ for a single car. A subject to investigation! Some makes would really have a problem, if their older but still produced cars had to fulfil the newer tests. (Thinking of i. e. Fiat "600"!) I am wondering if that is not the case in other countries? Denmark is not known being kind to people wanting special cars. Anyway, how about arguing, that when driving a Seven, you may not be protected by the car's body but by it's driving properties?

  8. Hi again,

Thing is, I do have a copy of the French crashtest, but it is written in....FRENCH! I do understand a little of it, but only a little, and I'm sure that the Danish guys will not accept anything written in French. For me, it will be almost impossible to have a new Seven registered for road use in Denmark, but as I'm currently "without" country, I can bring a used, and by me pre-owned, car as personal belonging. I'll "only" have to pay a tax of 180%... (Buy 3 get 1).

Therefore I'm looking for an older sample to run when abroad from Denmark, and when I have had for a year, I can bring it, only bringing a crashtest and a datasheet. Those rules, those rules. By the way, I do se the point about the bike, but that is not the common way of thinking in our great EC, all hars have to be tested from now on, only a few countries have such liberal rules as the UK, I think that is to kill all kind of initiative made by the individual. I'm afraid that's the direction things are heading, but I'm on to the piont of the bikes. I could even accept, that you could build your own car, but never sell it, if it hadn't been tested. But no. As all you out there are incapable of managing your own affairs, we, the government better have to protect you , it seems they're saying.

Wau, lots of anger in me, sorry, I'm just about as frustrated as the French agent must be... Belive me, it is not the first time I've been fighting stupid car rules in Denmark, and therefore, anyone, if you are thinking about bringing a car to Denmark, please feel free to contact me, if I am able to, I'll be happy to help you.

  9. Ja fransk er nok ok, men detteher, det ligner vist blot skrammel, ikke?

(Yep, guess French is ok, but this, I guess looks like scrap, doesn't it?)

Once upon a time someone tried to learn me to speak French, they had no success... But Pierre, you may be the person being able to translate the French crashtest to something the Danish authorities do understand? Woud you be open to bribery?

  10. Hi everyone,

Has anyone ever considered, that if using a fake spare, the round may not be the same, and then what about the LSD? I'd rather walk than using the fake!

  11. Hi Sam!

Do you have a wiring diagram? In that case I might be able to help - when I'm over there, live at least part time abroad from the UK... Honestly, I have NEVER woked on a 7 (yet) ((Hunting for my first!!)) But being quite fimilar to autoelectrics almost nothing scares.
