  1. I would like to say a surprised thank you to my fellow competitors  for the enthusiastic congratulations given when I  finally manage to string a quick time together today, and then again for their reaction when it was disallowed and purged from the record due to the unfortunate accident which closed the meeting, (my best wishes to that competitor and hopefully minor injuries from a very heavy accident.) I would also thank Tony my arch rival who on getting within a few tenths of my previous time, generously shows me his in car video, which with Dan Malkins previous evenings coaching , shows me that I,m doing it all wrong and allows me to go a second faster!!! A fine example of the spirit of competition that  Tony  is renowned  for , Many thanks  to all ,and be assured this example may encourage me to shed my Dick Dastardly persona !! And become a more upright member of our society. (Maybe!!)

  2. @Rivilla, as  I  do not have a dry sump, rightly or wrongly i rely on the Apollo tank  to keep the oil in the right place and i assumed the rattle to be the combustion of the oil rather than the bottom end. And as the old englishmaninwales says the only surge i have  is in my enthusiasm  to kick his ass down the road with quicker times!!

When are you out again Malcolm?

  3. Hi Clive,

I have 1.8 and found on Curborough figure of eight at  left turn at Flag Pole, engine would suck oil and big cloud of smoke from exhaust, and Pembury on the tight / long hard LH turn again engine rattle, loss of power and big cloud of oil smoke, So have fitted small catch tank and now no problem. but this is on ZZS tyres when hot rather than class two tyres which tend to slide rather than grip.

  4. Hi All,

As i had not had e mail confirming reserve place,i e mailed Alan and asked if i did or did not have place  and he has replied yes, ( big relief)  and that reserve lists have been informed today, and confirmed competitors will have notifications early next week when final regs sent out.

Biggest problem is it is late in the day, if you do not get an entry very late to try and find another sprint /hillclimb to compete in, and although it is the closest venue to my home ,i would find it difficult to support it as a championship round when it is so difficult to get a confirmed  entry, also a relief that i do not have to try and pass on my entry to club trackday at Castle Coombe as i did last year.

  5. Excellent photos Dave, very much appreciated , i think i / we owe you a breakfast roll at all sprints attended ,maybe  Chris  can get you an official L7  club photographer tabbard ? to get you to the parts others can't reach!

  6. Can anyone confirm on a lowered floor does the floor  support bracket fix in front or behind the  cross member ? just fitted floor and i think it is behind but am having doubts?

    Thanks in advance,

    Philip.

  7. Have weighed. Compomotive  CXR rims with Avon ZZS tyres

6 inch fronts with 185/13 tyres  12.2 kg

    8” rears with 215 /13 tyres.   14.3 kg

but I think it’s all about side wall flex because they feel so much better.

    Regards

    Philip

  8. As a class 3  competitor in the club speed championship with 150 hp ,the majority run 13" dia in  8" rears and 6" fronts , a minority run 7"fronts , or 6" rears . we all tend to run AVON ZZS tyres ,I currently have a set of Compomotive CXR rims /tyres for sale on pistonheads,.The 13 " tyres add addition suspension to the car, plus fill the rear arches nicely , but just for road use you might find rears a bit grippy but for track i think they are spot on and if i was using my car for road i would use 13 " dia.

    hope this helps,

    Philip
