  1. Hi all

Our newly-acquired Seven has Jenvey DTH bodies, currently with Pipercross "sock" filters. Induction side is rather loud, so thinking for next week's club trackday at Brands we may need to install the Bernard Scouse Airbox (using normal Caterham filter) that came with the car.

Slight issue is that the soft material attached to the edge of the airbox (that would seal it against the backing plate) seems to have come away in places. Question is what to replace it with, as we would like the two filter systems to be interchangeable. As a quick and dirty solution I'm thinking of cutting the seal off where it's come away, and "perfecting" the seal with small pieces of duct tape or similar. Or would that be silly?

    Thanks

  2. Hi all

Just a quick question. In order to connect to an Emerald K6 on a modern laptop (no serial ports) do I need both a USB to Serial adaptor and the Emerald-specific cable, or will just the USB to Serial cable on its own suffice?

    Many thanks

  3. That was my co-owner just back from collecting our new (to us) car. I was up in Greenwich/Blackheath in the old car at the time, and we had a late evening mini convoy run shortly afterwards 😬

  4. Hi all

Anyone got a fresh air heater (for an S3, if it makes any difference) plus all pipework, ideally, that they're looking to get rid of? Whilst fully expecting mockery for being soft, I really liked having a heater as an option (especially when driving to winter-y trackdays!) so thinking of adding one in to the newly-acquired car.

    Cheers

  5. Hi everyone

Following a rather impulsive purchase of a DVA-tuned and heavily uprated 1.8k, our current 7 is for sale. Bought from a club member a year ago, we'd intended keeping it a while, so someone's going to get the benefit of recent upgrades and major service work! All work on the car during our ownership has been done by Andy Belcher at Tech 7 in Redhill, who has always been complimentary about the car's condition. Anyway, details below:

    Summary

    - 1.6k Supersport (standard engine, shift light in dash)

    - First registered July 1997

    - De Dion chassis, tunnel handbrake

    - 5 speed

    - 20,500 miles

    - MOT to March 2014, Tax to end October this year

    Detailed spec

    - Newly-fitted Titan LSD (set up by Road and Race, fitted by Andy Belcher around 1000 miles ago

    - 13” Caterham 8 spoke anthracite (R300-style) wheels (6” front, 8” rear) with Toyo R888 tyres

    - Apollo tank

    - Tillett seats with Oxted trimming seat pads

    - Bilsteins with adjustable platforms – I had it flat-floored by Fishy Dave on here

    - Quick release momo wheel

    - Black pack headlights and new style rear indicator pods

    - High-level brake light (using an LED rain light I think)

    - Caterham 4 point harnesses

    - Heater

    - Carbon rear wing protectors

    - Full weather equipment and “soft bits” half hood

    - 12v socket

    - Starter button

    - Caterham rubber mats

    - Map pocket

    - Standard immobiliser with 2 fobs

    History:

    - Full stamped history from Caterham and specialists, including post-build inspection by Caterham

    - Replacement head gasket at Caterham in 2010. It’s been sold (twice) I think by Caterham themselves. The previous owner bought it from Caterham South.

    - Cambelt and sump foam changed last year (Tech 7)

    - Last service (oil change) in March 2013 (Tech 7)

    Bad bits

    - Couple of stone chips on the front end

    - Driver’s side rear wing has a small crack in the outside edge

    - Oil pressure gauge reads (wrongly) low sometimes – it’s the electronic type and we were proposing to move to a mechanical gauge in due course.

    - Rear tyres are a little low on tread, fronts are good

Pictures are probably best viewed on a Pistonheads ad here

    Clicky clicky

We're after 13,250 pounds for it, which I think is fair, but open to sensible offers, especially from on here, as I'd really like it to go to a good home.

    Thanks for reading!

  6. Does anyone (ideally in SE London/NW Kent) have any 13" tyres going spare - they'd be for the supercar event (see my other post about wheel loan) - just struggling to track down and have fitted appropriate tyres on our 6" rims.

Would be in return for an NTL donation/beer tokens and we'd collect in person.

    Many thanks

  7. Hi all

Just on the offchance really, but does anyone (based in London/Kent) have a set of 13" wheels + tyres (De Dion Fitment) they'd be prepared to lend out for the Supercar Event? Condition irrelevant, knackered "drift-able" tyres preferred. We're rather struggling to track down and have fitted a set of appropriate tyres onto our bare rims.

Would be in return for NTL donation/beer tokens and either I or my co-owner could collect and return them to you in person.

    All the best

  8. Hi all

Just wondering if anyone's got an aeroscreen (interchangeable type) ideally with all 3 mirrors, that they want to get rid of? Will consider carbon or composite.

    Thanks

  9. Good trackday, but amazingly slippy conditions, due to consistently low temperatures. Great for working on your car control, but a few interesting moments, and a year's worth of opposite lock in the morning alone *eek*. Really noticed the difference in handling (and especially stability under braking and downshifts) without a passenger - car was much more flighty.

Now it's had the chassis washed down and is tucked away in the garage :)

That VX220 was going well - quick piece of kit.
