I find that the performance of 1144's drops off with age. A new set might give you the improvement you're looking for.

The roll bar or cage is more than adequate. Just get some "tow" stickers from ebay.

Unfortunately I suffered a clutch failure at Anglesey at the weekend and have had to withdraw.
(Comp Sec, Clerk of the Course and Admin Team notified by email)
Worse still, I'm on holiday for the August Curborough round.

Sounds like a faulty ignition switch to me.
As in Jonathan's diagram, the ignition switch contact closes to put a 12V supply to the lamp. If that contact is stuck closed you will have the fault described. If the contact is open I don't see how an alternator fault could light the lamp.

Brian James A Max trailer.
Bought new by me in 2006, enclosed body by Hensons added in 2008.
Professionally serviced, fitted with tyre rack, shelf with mounting for electric winch, 3.5 Tonne Bradley coupling, much better quality than standard.
Comes with 4 new (unfitted) tyres.
Trailer will carry a wide track Caterham, not an SV.
Located in North Lancashire, could probably deliver.
Pictures available, n900fox@gmail.com.
For sale due to upgrade.
£2500

I would recommend Raceco Exhausts.

My guess is that one stud was shortened to fit a locking wheel nut.

The flywheel bolt on a verto clutch mini is 30mm.

I assume you have a 15A fuse feeding the cig lighter and the horn.
Obviously the 12V supply downstream of the fuse has been connected to earth thus blowing the fuse.
If the horn is working normally, I would suspect that the circuit has been earthed during the operation of the cig lighter plug and socket. I would have a close look at both components, they are often of poor quality.

Notice 01-21 makes any halogen light unit converted to HID or LED an MOT fail.

I use a two post lift.
Lift on the bottom longitudinal chassis rail, at the front just behind the engine mounts, at the back level with the front edges of the rear wing. I lift the back of the car with a trolley jack first to get the rear pads of the 2 post lift in place.

Hi Graham,thanks for the reply.
The role of the scorer is somewhat different in open championships. The scorer has to pick out his championship contenders, scattered across multiple classes in around 25 different events. For this reason Longton and Liverpool Regs require you to run in your championship class if it is offered. Sometimes it is not offered and I have to advise the scorer(s) on how to proceed.
This year I have done 27 events, competing in the following championships; Liverpool, Longton Northern, Crossborder (XBC), HSA, Association of Northwest Car Clubs, SD34 Motorsport Group and Lotus 7 of course. If I ran in a Lotus 7 class at an open event I could have up to 6 other scores to explain to even if the regs permitted it.
At Anglesey the conditions were certainly variable, but the class 4 result from the wet day on Saturday were essentially the same as the dry day on Sunday.
Unfortunately, if I can't run in the correct MSUK class when I need to, it will mark the end of my 16 years of membership of the Lotus 7 Club.
-
It's been pointed out to me that the regs proposed require cars to be entered into the Lotus 7 classes to score points. This being to reduce the likelyhood of having different conditions.
The Lotus 7 club has always been very flexible previously which has allowed me to compete in multiple championships. The proposal would affect 4 or 5 of us who compete in other championships.
If changing conditions are such an issue the why allow double drives? The are equally likely to be affected and can change the condition of the car as well!

The following is cut and pasted from the 2021 Blue book. The applicability statement in section J makes it clear that the all vehicles must comply with the specific technical regulations. This makes S 10.9.1 a mandatory requirement.
Technical
5. The following technical regulations are mandatory and
apply to vehicles in all forms of competition (other than
Karting). In addition vehicles must comply with the appropriate
Specific Technical Regulations. Where there are several
regulations concerning any particular subject it shall be taken,
as a general principle, that one does not override another
unless specifically stated.5.11.2. Be equipped with a reverse gear in normal working
order unless otherwise stated in Specific Technical Regulations.
Racing Cars of Periods A to E are exempt from this requirement.Specific Regulations for Sprints, Hill Climbs and Drag Racing (S)
10.9.1. For Road Cars-and Standard Cars, the reverse gear
must remain operable at all times. -
According to the handbook 5 of the 18 Class 4 entries were above 220bhp. One of them didn't appear during the season.
-
Thanks to the Comp Sec and team, obviously a lot of thought has gone into this. Some useful comments have been added here.
I will be happy to compete in Class 5 next year.
-
Fellow class 4 competitors and scorer please note, I will be skulking in class 2B, car 91 as a Longton & Liverpool competitor.

They aren't all the same size if I remember correctly.

Same as a classic mini or Morris Minor.
3/8 UNF, make sure you get the correct taper to suit your wheels.
If Redline don't have them try Minisport, Minispares or Charles Ware Morris Minor centre.
