  1. I got a pair when I replaced the rears. They seem to be ok. A bit grippier than the ZV1s they replaced and possibly less hard wearing but I have been getting faster and smoother on each trackday I've done so it's hard to be sure.

    Lumpy running

I've got a 1.8 140 roadsport SV (02 year on 10k miles) that's a bit of a mare in traffic, at about walking pace it's really hard to drive it smoothly. I've put up with it so far because I try and avoid traffic, but next year I'm going to be commuting in it a lot more. I wondered if it was driver induced, but no matter how hard I try to be smooth and gentle, if I press the accelerator when crawling it's really jerky. Otherwise it runs brilliantly. As I understand it I need to get the ECU mapped properly, and this may require fitting vernier pulleys. Is this correct and will it stop the popping I get occasionally on overrun? (Cos it makes me smile every time) And the next question is, where's the nearest place to Bristol to get it done and roughly how much should it cost?
  4. I once had this terrible grinding sound when I went around corners, but it would only happen once per corner. It turned out to be the wife's lost metal shades case uner the passenger seat. 😳
  5. *thumbup*All back together and working again. I see what you mean by arcing: one of the contacts is almost worn away ❗
  6. Thanks guys (especially the spring tip). I figure they're cheap and plan to order one tomorrow, but I'm going to Llandow on Saturday so I figured a back up plan would be good. Cheers Bill
  7. The brake switch (mechanical type on an 02 car) has stopped working, the main question is, is it repairable or should I just bin it. It can be persuaded to work by flicking it.
  8. I'm not a grandma, and I don't do eggs 😬 It's a CC built car so I hope they're the right senders ❗ 🤔
  9. Aha! I'm with you. That's the thnking that had me drive home rather than relay. I figured oil ought to be good for 180.
  10. *confused*But Shirley it's a temp guage with an oil temp sender and a water temp sender with a switch to change from one sender to the other?
  11. 😬I think I'll reduce the oil volume first 😳
  12. I was at Goodwood at the weekend and apparently the only 7 there with an oil temp guage. The temperature was getting up to almost 120 (water temp steady at around 80) and was getting concerned. On the way home at a steady 5000 rpm cruise (6 speed box) it was rising to 100+. I've done a search and this seems to answer my questions: http://www.blatchat.com/T.asp?id=47989 I think the problem was a little too much oil in the engine, as I did overfill it slightly. So sorry to the various other 7 owners there I was asking for advice off/worrying (Ignorance is bliss ) It's a 140bhp k series with appollo tank btw
  13. *thumbup*Sounds good, the only question is how to arrange payment/delivery.
  14. That was quick! I'll have a think (& do some research) and let you know. I don't s'pose you'll be at Hullavington on Friday?
  15. Currently I have a black one, I'm happy to swap or buy. (Anyone know how much a new one is?)
