  1. Happy to see this 😬 Anything for a good cause has my blessing!
  2. 12.30 today. I was in the green Volvo who let you through on your approach to South Molton town centre. What engine do you have? It didn't half sound good next to that row of houses!
  3. Tintop has been running a little hesitantly of late. Having encountered a similar problem in a work vehicle recently, I suspected the fuel filter might need draining. The manual states that there is a bleed screw which needs to be undone prior to removing the drain screw underneath. What is/where is the bleed screw??? Draining plug is easy to locate, but atfer all the gunk comes out, the flow stops (negative pressure, as whatever other 'screw' I've undone makes no difference. Help!
  4. ... coming from Bickleigh circa 4pm today. The hum of my tin-top's aircon, the quiet, modulated tones of the Radio 4 announcer, broken for a moment by the flash - and snarl - of a Blue Caterham going the other way. Beautiful afternoon for it! I think I've spotted you before, driving past Blundell's School in Tiverton. Local? The 65th
  5. Have seen this before - at the Wiscombe Park VSCC Hillclimb, also in Topsham. No idea who they are.
  6. Tony - actually most of the journey was downhill ('Longdrag Hill' - it goes on for miles..) so once the car was turned around and I was out of the village I turned off engine and free wheeled home for most of the way. Passed a pedestrian walking back up the hill - must have thought it was the world's quietest Caterham... 😬
  7. Car is 1.8K VVC. Was blatting this afternoon - very strong smell of petrol. The car seemed a little sluggish under power too. I pulled over, bonnet came off and with the engine still running there was fuel pumping out of the flexible hose that comes out on the LHS of the pedal box and up into the back of the plenum chamber. Is this the 'high pressure fuel line' that I have read about in other threads. I presume therefore it's easy to replace. Journey back was fun - only a few miles and only undertaken when I was satisfied that the fuel was spraying out to the right, away from anything too hot. Had the fire extinguisher on my lap throughout just in case. Took the doors off to waft the fumes away but I type this now still as high as a kite!!! 'Be generous in bed. Share your sandwiches'
  8. Spotted near Withleigh. I was in the green & yellow stripe SV on my way back to Tiv' after fuel line had split at Withleigh. My doors were off to get rid of the fumes! Hope you had a good drive - it's a fantastic road! 😬 'Be generous in bed. Share your sandwiches'
  9. new leads fitted - problem sorted 😬 😬 😬
  10. In Taunton a week ago. The Ferrari F40 rumbled past at a steady 30 mph (built-up area) -sounded like a small earthquake. The Marcos was out of town, going a bit faster 😬. The driver was nailing it - also sounded very good! Don't get many cars like tha' in this 'ere part o' Zummurzet 😬
  11. 😬Cheers guys - much appreciated. The plugs were changed on the last service (3 months ago) so I hope they're still okay, but I will start by changing the leads. The car has got a high mileage (190,000+)but those 740's seem to be carved from a block of granite. 'Be generous in bed. Share your sandwiches'
  12. Engine is 'missing' very slightly every so often. I opened the bonnet up tonight whilst the engine was running and in the darkness it was clear that there was electrical arcing by the central (high tension?) lead into the centre of the ignition coil. Also there was a little bit of arcing between the HT leads just before they connect to the spark plugs. Time to replace the leads? And coil? Edited by - pinstripe pete on 16 Nov 2006 20:09:09
  13. Heading north waiting in traffic for the toll booth. Might have been an aeroscreened CSR (looked fantastic!) but only got a glimpse as I was enjoying that frantic rush away from the booths in the other direction trying to beat everyone else.......... in my Volvo 740 estate Were you collecting a new car from the factory? 'Be generous in bed. Share your sandwiches'
  14. ...in his new CSR. 😬 😬 North Devon link road just past Tiverton. 'Be generous in bed. Share your sandwiches'
  15. Thank you Steve & Paul. Steve - The repair is only temporary - and may become permanent if it works well 😬. I have also got hold of something called 'JB Weld' which looks better than Chemical Metal and I may use that instead. Hope all your hounds are well!
