  3. I'd posted a thread on this a few weeks ago and got some helpful tips on the best method of removal i.e. use the cut out from QR column hooked over bush and pull... hard, or brute force using a hammer...! The 1st option wasn't successful despite my best efforts and I was still left wondering how to extract the lower bush, the 2nd option for me was a non-goer, I can't find it in me to take a hammer to the car, however necessary. So, what next, well I did it like this : 1) In the top bush drill a small-ish hole in the bush itself (where you can see it, self explanatory really) 2)Using a small flat bladed screwdriver place the end in the drilled hole from underneath and lever against the column housing 3)All things being equal the bush should be easily extracted To get the bottom one out, I rigged up a tool using a lenght of threaded rod, a washer that would fit inside the column housing (but bigger than the diameter of the bush), followed by a nut and at the other end a large washer and nut. Simply tighten the nut on the outside and the bush will be extracted note: I then used a socket from a socket set to allow the bush to fit into this, allowing for complete removal. The good thing is that fitting is the reverse procedure and doesn't involve a hammer or brute force, just the gentle tighting of a nut....worked like a dream...! Mark
  4. Hi Oli, What diameter is the front ARB? Is for std or wide track set-up? ps. where in the UK are you? Regards Mark
  5. Tony, I'll bid £300, although would appreciate some guidance as to what you expect to seel the plate for? Mark
  6. Is the FIA still for sale? If so whereabouts are you in the UK? Mark
  7. Hi, Its time for that migration from fixed to quick release steering wheel and guess what that top bush is a 'sod' (and thats being polite) to extract, has anyone any sensible ideas to remove this bush....?? Mark
  8. Hi, I need to replace my cycle wings, I've noted that quite a few cars are sporting them without using the std nut & bolt fixing method, favouring the gluing alternative. Can anyone recommend any 'tried and tested' glue and name the appropriate suppliers? Caterham had suggested either windscreen adhesive or fibreglass, any preference?? Mark
  9. Try B&Q warehouse, they are selling the same type of dual use lantern (two tubes with a torch light at one end) for £19.99 made by RING. Rechargable battery & mains usage. Just a thought. Mark
  10. Hi Bob, There is a place just outside Watford, called Orbital Fasteners, they can supply various riviting guns and rivits to suit your requirements. There contact no. is 01923 777777 (apt number...!!) or via the internet at : www.orbital-fasteners.co.uk A note of caution : Whatever gun you purchase, take care not to slip when the gun fires... I suggest getting hold of a piece of plastic, say the top of an old tupper-ware box, cut a hole in it just bigger than the popper and place this on the bodywork prior to riviting... it will save any mishaps with denting or chipping your paintwork....! Regards Mark
  11. Dear fellow enthusiasts, Can anyone help.........?? The anodising on my windscreen needs refinishing, to do this requires the removal of the entire windscreen and the glass from the surround. I then intend removing (by careful drilling) the pop rivits that retain the hood poppers, although I'm unsure as to whether this would result in me being unable to remove the rivit remnants from the aluminium surround as I'm unfamilar with its construction i.e. is the surround simply a U channel? If anyone has experience of stripping out their windscreen could they please advise me? Thanks Mark Shekle
