  1. Little known fact: Caterham do a rose jointed 'A' frame - fit and forget - no more hassle. James Whiting sorted it out for me. If you want to do it yourself, ring Caterham spares I guess. Zetec: Proud and Raw-T !! C7 LDA
  2. I run an Ital diff, fitted with an LSD from SPC; advertises in Low Flying. All work sorted by James Whiting, who is a fount of all knowledge on things 7. Not too far away from you - he's in Sunbury. Give him a call on 01784 241466 - speak to him or Ruth. I run a Zetec through the Ital diff and it's putting out c.160bhp. So it's possible!! Zetec: Proud and Raw-T !! C7 LDA
  3. Agree with Bare. I've fitted the FIAM twin air horns and would never go back to the standard Caterham offering. Give the 7 what it deserves; the standard horn is fit for a Morris Minor, and not much else besides. Not that I've anything against Minors, you understand!! Zetec: Proud and Raw-T !! C7 LDA
  4. I get my 021s from Adams and Page on the Cressex Estate, High Wycombe. They can normally get them in from Yoko overnight. Good price and they're excellent fitters. Not sure whether they're convenient to you. If so, call and speak to Stuart on 01494 525971. I run Yoko 021R 185x70.13 as they're cheap and great for both road and track. The extra few mms of clearance isn't really compromised on track - so, recommended Zetec: Proud and Raw-T !! C7 LDA

    6ft 4"

I'm 6'1" and have just fitted Tilletts, which meann that I don't have to have the seats all the way back, tho' I do have the pedals on the furthest position (chassis rail doesn't bother me). Point of the post is to say that Oxted Trimming, mentioned further up the thread, made up some mega inserts for the seats which give a bit of extra cushioning and look the dog's d******s. If anyone has got Tilletts and wants to personalise their cockpit look, then give Brendan a call at Oxted. Zetec: proud and roar-T !!
  6. Why bother? The 6 speed box, as I understand it, was designed specifically to utilise the K series power/torque band. I'm in the same boat as you - a Zetec with a 4 speed box in a live axle car. Apart from the fact that I can't decide what diff to run - and I've run everything from a 4.1 to a 3.7 (current), I'm really happy with the transmission. I'd be interested in knowing if you've any probs with the Ital diff, as mine, typically, only lasts for 12 months before crying enough! I've now got 2 diffs from SPC, both with LSD, one in the car, the other in the garage!
  7. For rear wheel, read spare wheel!! Dooohhhh! And I don't even like those Morgan 3 wheelers!
  8. I am in the process of removing the rear wheel and rear wheel carrier, for aesthetic reasons (and weight saving). However, this means that I will be unable to use the luggage rack that straps to the rear wheel. As I regularly use the car for touring ,2 up, for up to 10 days at a time, whatever you say, I'm going to need more than one case. The car is live axle, so the 'boot' ain't even that deep! Has anyone heard of an owner fabricating a carrier that doesn't use the rear wheel? Help required before Le Sept!!

  10. ...or will a lemon do? Sorry what is it and where do I get it from?
  11. I've been gradually removing various bits of interior trim over the past few months, to take the car back to its basic spec. However, I need to clean the ally floor, which has got a load of glue residue from what passed as carpet! Ditto on the transmission tunnel. Has anyone got a suggestion as to what sort of chemical I can use that will bring the ally up as new?

  13. Clive; if I could remember how to e-mail from the thread, then I would! My 7 is blue/purple metallic biggrin.gifreg no: M300 LOU. If you know how to get an e-mail to me, let me have your details, or post in this thread. Lawrence PS - I've nver met a Deity before!
  14. OK guys, thanks for the views; I'll try running at lower pressures tho' I would have thought that should make them run cooler (but have read the othere tyre threads before posting) In response to Andy Murphy - 140 brake, 13" rims, live axle with LSD. Is anyone at Brands with Easy Track on the 19th; if so I'll see you there Lawrence
  15. Having just fitted 032s (soft) on 13" rims to my Zetecced 7, and was disappointed at a Snett Trackday last weekend with the amount of grip when compared to the 021s. Should I have fitted the supersoft? Found that I needed to run the car much stiffer with the 032s than with the 021s . Was using 20 psi (cold) which got to 24/24 psi when hot, but really struggled to get heat into the tyres (yeah, yeah, I know, must try harder!). Any suggestions as to pressures/front to rear stiffness etc? and does anyone who's used both tyres have a preference?
