  1. I have been approached today by book/film publishers related to the "Calendar Girls" (of film/book/calendar reknown), who want to take a book cover photo of the original group on my staircase! (I live locally to where it all kicked off). The book is in aid of Leukemia Research. This got me thinking- they are still active fundraisers for Leukemia Research, and it occured to me that this might represent an opportunity to collar them to participate in some kind of joint NTL fundraising stunt along with L7OC. In case anyone is wondering- its all clothes on these days, but I could envisage something along the lines of sponsored "Calendar Girls On Track" event or similar, with associated media coverage. Maybe a TV programme based on two diferent organisatiosn with a common commitment to this cause, or something similar? Interested to hear any suggestions for a joint stunt/initiative that might capture their imagination and make some cash, and if any good suggestions, will need some volunteers to participate. Likely venue, North Yorks/Dales. All suggestions welcome!

  5. Chocolate telly obviously is up first, but if it ends up with more than one candidate I have the same request- to swap Wednesday Blue session for Tuesday blue session (assuming no objections from Geoff) Pug Graphite and Bare Carbon R400
  6. 7 minutes from Low Flying hitting the doormat to the posting of the completed Cadwell Entry form- is this a record?
  7. Norm, Thanks. 6 speed, and under warranty I am very pleased to say. About 1200 miles only on the car. Best I get in touch with CC then! Cheers Ken Pug Graphite and Bare Carbon R400
  8. My R400 is spontaneously jumping out of 3rd into neutral on a trailing throttle. It has done this intermittently for a while, but seems to be getting worse. Very disconcerting on track as you hit the gas through a corner only to find nothing happens! Any suggestions as to cause, and how much of a nightmare fixing it is likely to be? 11. Another taker for the R400 wheels if any left. YHM
  12. Angus&Tessa, Ah, but no spare wheel carrier on an R400... The car I saw this on was definately a 7- followed it in my tintop at the time (Impreza P1) and it was shifting, even with the trailer, which piqued my curiosity- this thing was tiny- not much bigger than a decent sized suitcase- cant imagine it weighed much. Will check out the various links. Cheers Ken
  13. I am not expecting it to be great, just a means of getting camping stuff from a to b so you can set up and leave it beheind
  14. I recently saw a 7 towing a small trailer, and got to thinking that towing a motorbike trailer might be a useful idea when touring to provide some extra capacity, on the basis you could leave it behind if going for a proper blat. Does anyone have experience of doing this? How does it affect handling? How did they attach the trailer? Here are some examples of the type of trailer I was thinking of... here
  15. Hmmmmmm.. not the most resounding recommendation!

  18. I was thinking of trying Donnington's TrackZone drive-in track day next weekend or the one after- anyone been / comments? You can just show up and pay on the day, which means no gambles with the weather, but is the quid pro quo being surrounded by chavs in "Max-Power"ed Saxos?
  19. On the basis that my insurance is 1/5th the price it was for my Impreza P1, it would seem the insurance industry thinks we are safer than other cars they can rely on being driven "enthusiastically"- This can only be attributable to:- cars have fewer accidents drivers are more competent (I subscribe to this one!) accidents are cheaper to repair we inflict less damage on the things we hit (true too) This seems consistent with the reasons described in other posts I think agility, driver skills, light weight, and the ratio of strength/weight etc all work to our advantage, but the car wont provide much protection in a really nasty "big one" with another large vehicle/solid object. Overall though I think the balance of risk works quite well providing a sensible attitude is adopted. in any case its about how well you live, not how long!
  20. Try KT Green/ White Garage in Pool/Bramhope- I recently (August) sold them my Xreg P1, with some minor damage and 28,000 miles for GBP 15,500. I think he turned it pretty quick to another dealer so your price looks pretty much on the nail- bit rich for trade sale maybe given the mileage, but look spot on for a privare sale. Have you tried P1OC?
  21. I have recently bougth a Minno shuttle- my garage is extra short, and they did me a folding towpole (pivots around the front of the trailer floor), so if you want to save some length check this out- a cracking job by the way- excellent product and service- the whole thing fits inside my 13' garage easily Its arrived! R400 KJY- still running in and struggling to stay under 5k rpm..too tempting!
  22. Try one of these- more effective and much cheaper to run than a dehumidifier..... http://www.garage-dri.com/ Works by keeping a constant stream of dried air passing through the garage, so that there is positive internal pressure and damp doesnt seep in through any gaps. Still worth plugging gaps, but you dont want a total seal- need to allow the air to flow out. Stops your tools rusting too! Its arrived! R400 KJY- still running in and struggling to stay under 5k rpm..too tempting!
  23. Some light aircraft use a small perspex scoop mounted in a swivel for windscreen ventilation, so you can turn it into the airflow and draw forced air, but when you turn it around 180 degrees it makes a watertight seal and closes the hole. 90 degrees provides "unforced" ventilation, as the scoop is parrellel to the airflow. These are very compact and low profile- maybe 5" in diameter and an inch deep. Dont know where you would find them, but something along these lines mounted into the floor panel might work, as well as letting you see the road go by!

Thanks Richard- no problem- u were most helpful on the phone- just wanting to get my head around the experience of any others. Had a look at the car today- dont think I can get them put in as part of the build without disrupting the timeframe, so likely to tackle them over time- maybe starting with something simple to get my eye in- I will be in touch. Cheers Ken
