I`m suffering a recurrent problem with the speedo. ☹️
Seems to be the familiar one of the short length of cable coming out of the gearbox breaking.
Have replaced it several times in the last couple of years, but it rarely lasts more than a few hundred miles.
Would it be an answer to convert to an electric rather than cable Speedo 🤔
Has anyone done this 🤔 and what parts would I need. I have tried asking CC who were unable to answer and haven`t got back to me. Have trawled through quite a few old speedo threads also.
or am I missing something simple in replacing the cable 🤔
Speedo cable can simply work loose and become detached,
cable within angle drive, off the gearbox, may break,
speedo cable may break,
er could be more explanations.
Mine was the angle drive.
MrsRocks had the se7en all day today and had parked onthe drive.
I went out to put it in the garage...
After a few miles the speedo suddenly died - needle just dropped from 70ish to nil. Tachometer died also.
I have no mechanical knowlege or experience, but any ideas 🤔
Is there a likely easy fix, or am I going to need to get help 🤔
Any advice greatly appreciated

Yellow Roadsport 115, 5 speed.
but does that mean that tccrawford is right
ie would a 4-2-1 exhaust give me noticeably more mid-range grunt 🤔
Mines a 1.6 unmodified roadsport with 5-speed box. Only road use (so far)and I rarely get close to the top of the rev range, so it would seem to suit.

Off at a tangent, but I recently changed headlight bulbs to the Philips blue light H4s (from powerbulbs.com) and they are a striking improvement over the standard bulbs.
No first hand experience of the deflectors, but previous threads have suggested that they make no difference.
I`m happiest with doors off (side mirrors from Low Flying ad). Particulary good if you enjoy having your right nostril sand-blasted.
Apparently no screen, and deflector is less turbulent and faster, but not plucked up courage to tackle a project which involves drilling scuttle etc yet.
Was thinking about fitting an Apollo tank prior to any tack use (to standard K 1.6).
Obviously much cheaper, does it do the same job 🤔 is the dry sump worth the extra 🤔

Purchased locking wheel nuts from Caterham Midlands when I bought the car back in March.
Nicely unobtrusive with a nut-like cap which fits over them.
However had a look at them a couple of days ago - they come with an odd plastic device with plunger to remove the caps - tried for ages, but couldn`t get them off - perhaps it`s because I`m stupid.
Also only four locking nuts of course.
I`ve got the mirrors advertised in Low Flying (Seve Accessories) which I think are fine. £50 for pair.
Fit in the sidescreen hinges, so very easy which matters to me.

If I`m not needing my left foot I tend to alternate between behind the pedal (which is not too clever) and resting my foot on its side, just behind my right heel - seems comfy enough there, and soon appears back on the clutch when called for.
Have got cart boots myself and size 10 feet. Find them much better than any of my other shoes as soles don`t stick out at all.
Thinking of having a go at sprinting - live just near Curborough - but would I need flame retardant shoes for this?
