  1. Looked like you were both having fun. Would I have seen you about Mill Lane in Stock on Boxing Day morning as well? I was out for a run with my brother and Border collie and caught a glimpse of a yellow Seven.
  2. Two up, turning from the Hanningfield Road. I was in the snot-green Porsche heading the other way.

    Powervamp PVR25

Well. You're all correct. Banner is heavier than the Powervamp, even though I had to weigh it on the bathroom scales to convince myself - 6kg vs 8kg. Strange how the mind plays tricks.
  5. I'm a little surprised... I thought replacing my tired old Banner with one of the above would improve starting and reliability and save space and weight at the same time. It seems, on the latter at least, that I'm wrong. Having taken the old one out yesterday evening and weighing the two (admittedly only by hand) the Powervamp is considerably heavier. Or do my hands/brain deceive me? Something to do with the many thin lead plates they have in them?
  6. That's a relief. I had started to convince myself that there hasn't been enough oil in it for months. The oil pressure gauge is a bit flakey a tickover as well, which I thought might also be something do with it! Thanks
  7. Reassurance needed! In the GTKY7 article in this month's Low Flying it states that when topping up the oil after changing one should first pour 4 litres into the swirl tower of the dry sump system, before topping up the rest through the usual filler hole. When I did this early in the year I didn't do the former, pouring it all into the engine through the latter. I must admit to finding it tricky to check the level with the Caterham dry sump system, but oil seemed to register on the dipstick and there is a little oil in the catch tank. Am I likely to have done any damage? Thanks James
  8. I thought so too. Had been out in mine on Saturday and came back frozen.
  9. ...2 up, heading towards Galleywood about 11.00am.
  10. ...as I went in search of lunch. Yellow with black cycle wings and rear arches. Nice day for it!
  11. Thanks all. I'll try slackening slightly first. If that doesn't work I'll try another clamp alongside the existing one and go from there.
  12. Thanks Stationary. Are there not 'bleeding' problems when draining K series cooling systems?
  13. Numpty question here. I noticed at the weekend that the bottom hose on my K series R300 is leaking a little. I'd been wondering where the pinkish residue had been coming from all last year. Is it as simple as tightening the jubilee clip? I ask because I'm sure I did this as a precaution last year when the level dropped suddenly in the expansion tank and I wasn't sure what the effects of overtightening might be (both on both the hose and the ali connector). Thanks
  14. GN07 ... (I think). Around 8.30 a.m 24/09 driving up Guithavon Valley in the direction of the station. Edited by - jamesc on 24 Sep 2009 13:52:36
  15. Hi Mark, I was surprised and intrigued, hence the decision to turn around. I was several cars behind and could just about see the tail of a yellow Seven with black arches before I had to replace vapour with something more substantial. The return blat home (Witham) was one of those frustrating ones where there was a lot of traffic and no opportunities to push on. Hey ho! James
