Go for a weekend away from it all and see two in Paris Hours apart (both french plated).

1) Green/Ali near the bus stop at Port d'Orleans (that was me who crossed the road in front of you and pointed you out to my friend) late Friday night.

2) Green/Ali with a stripe at the bottom of the steps to the Sacré Coeur with flowers on the bonnet during Saturday morning.

Not me, used the car at the weekend and it is still running/ticking over well.

Have you tried switching on and off the ingnition half a dozen times with no throttle to reset the throttle pot value? Also if you have a voltmeter try measuring the value of the throttle pot, using the laptop via the ECU mine was measuring 1.03V.

I got an adaptor from ebay that converts the 12V of the car to a range of voltages for laptops etc. it also came with a selection of adaptors for different laptops/whatevers.

On the 230 odd miles I did in the last week or so I got either 36 or 38mpg, this included our 5 seven blat to the South Warwickshire meet. Not sure quite which it is as I forgot exactly how many miles were on the trip meter when I filled up 😬

Certainly I think it will only be if you complain or request it rather than a recall, not sure though if they will want to agree it's a problem before they will do it for free.

With regards to the TB mods, I don't think that this is part of the upgrade but more to do with mine being duff.

With regards to cost, when they found the problem CC wanted to charge me £600 for new TBs, I obviously winced at this and they said they would ask if they could get them repaired for less. I then pointed out to them that, at only 2000 miles, the TB company should be doing the work/replacing for free as they are clearly not fit for purpose. The company agreed (don't know who they are) and six weeks later did the job and returned them!

Not sure really I didn't get to speak with anyone technical, they still look the same but the throttle feels lighter so they have done something to them. James Gibson said something about the problem being with the spindles, so what I'm guessing is that the spindles wore away at the holes, the holes then started leaking air which then messed up the settings for me.

As this new map doesn't monitor airflow it isn't affected by this or any differences in air flow between the cylinders, although I'm sure that any significant leaks around the spindles would still cause mapping problems.

I would take some pics but there is nothing new to see really. The only thing is that the MAP sensor is now disconnected and the pipe that was on it has got a screw put in the end of it. The rest of it must be in the black box.

I've picked it up and well to be honest.........

....... It's bl00dy brilliant!! *thumbup*

Right from first touch of the throttle you could tell there was something different, it was an instant response. There were no coughs, splutters, or fuggieness, just smooth power delivery (and plenty of it!).

I opened it up a few times (but not fully yet) and I was very impressed, and on the 90 mile journey home it didn't miss a beat and I averaged 42mpg (ok, ok, I know I need to learn to drive it properly to get it to a much more acceptable 30mpg 😬)

I only had a quick look under the bonnet and yes the MAP sensor is now looking at fresh air, I will have to do some more testing over the weekend

From my experience the only thing I can say is "What are you waiting for, get it done!!"

My car is now ready to collect with refurbished throttle bodies and the new engine map/set-up. Not sure what else has been done but will find out.

Going to pick it up on Friday so will let you all know how it is after my journey home 😬

Just past five weeks for me so far, and with all this sunny weather we've been having I've started to go carzy with withdrawal and just want to go blatting again!!

Even though I would still rather they kept it longer rather than give it back before it was properly fixed. I know it has involved work on the throttle bodies but I'm not sure what and why as yet.

I'll certainly keep you all posted when I hear details, just can't wait to get back on the road.

If it's the standard caliper you have then it's a Girling type 14 caliper. Just looked at the list and they only have one listed for the Caterham 7 for £26ish (page 7), but they don't say which caliper though.

Unfortunately I can't remember where I got mine from to give you a part number.

Yeah, must admit I agree with you. All the bit for the ECU (sensors etc.) are off the shelf items that FoMoCo make by the lorry load so should be of constant quality and reliability. Don't know who the engine makers are but maybe there are some tolerance issues creeping in for the CC map to be good on one engine and bad on another and for things to reverse for the next map issue.

CC can only have a small pool of engines/cars to develop with (which may change regularly) so have their work cut out trying to develop new ones, especially if there is any variations in them. It must be very difficult, don't envy them at all.

The car has now gone back to CC for them to sort out.

Hopefully they will find a definite problem and solution (and that it won't be something stupid that I did during the build!! 😬)

I have been in touch with CC though, and they are going to come and collect the car and sort it all out for me (with the car running as roughly as it does at the moment I wouldn't like to drive it the 100 miles to Dartford!).

Have had a look at the coilpack and it is a FoMoCo one, and think this is where the problem may partly lie.

Yup, tried that, thanks. Took it out for a run last night to the club meet and it was running rougher than a badgers ar5e, looks like the problem is getting worse and worse which hopefully means the faulty item is about to fail properly and show itself.

Starting to think HT leads, plugs, coilpack...mind you that's all there is left to try apart from a new ECU!!
