  1. Hi,

I had a split hose and so temporarily have modified the system to by pass the heater, no real issue, except, the highest point in the system is the hose that used to run to the heater, I've done 50 miles today and had no issue, with the car (K Series) being at a steady 80-85 degrees, the fan kicks in when stationary and running and seems to work fine.

Guess I'm a bit paranoid but with a trackday on Weds I'd rather be safe than sorry.

    Thoughts anyone?

  2. Paul is absolutely right *thumbup*, you have to push like hell at the same time as turning (I'm not sure they are threaded as when I was using the tool incorrectly they turned but didn't go back in!). Certainly not my favourite job but all sorted now and I'll have the tool back to you at the weekend Paul. Thanks again, now just a water leak to deal with! *mad*

  3. Can anyone help? *confused*

I'm replacing the pads all round on my K series Caterham (standard brakes), the fronts have gone in no problem, but I'm having some difficulty with the rears 😔 , I've got the calipers off but with the new pads in it won't go back over the disc! ☹️

It was suggested I might need a brake caliper rewind tool... can anyone tell me which one I need (are the calipers standard Ford?). Even better has anyone got one I could borrow for the day...I'm in the Guildford area *wink*.

    Cheers

  4. Ok guys, I think i should explain that I'm not tweaking the car to make me go any faster, but to stop me having a large bill for Armco! *redface*

Brake Fluid is 4 years old, pads are 10 years old! *eek*

Tyre pressures I think are a bit low, everyone has commented, any thoughts on what they should be? *confused*

Thanks for the advice so far, I plan on playing GT5 for a month before I go! 🙆🏻 i also intend to have a good few laps at a very slow pace to get the feel for it!

    Cheers

  5. OK Guys, its my first trip to Nurburgring 😳 in May and I figured the car (2000 1.8 K Supersport) needs a bit of TLC before I depart *confused*

In addition to its usual service, I need some advice on

    1) I'd like to change the brake fluid (I boiled it on my last trip to Bedford *redface*) any particular types, (racing grade) I should be considering?

    2) I'd like to change the brake pads, again what would you recommend (I have standard brakes)?

    3) Tyre pressures - I have Toyo R888's on 14 inch minilites, I usually run very low for trackdays 12-14psi, any thoughts/advice?

    4) Any more general thoughts on what to take, where to get help over there if I have problems, what else I should be considering etc?

    Thanks in advance

  6. I 've had a search on all the forums but can't find much on the actual clamp (lots about the cameras) for a camcorder on my FIA Rollbar.

I've got a Sony HD Camcorder on a hard drive and the quality seems good, so I wanted a quality clamp, to cut out any vibration for track days etc. iIve found a "Hague SC2 Superclamp with double ball tilt head" *confused* if that means anything to anyone, its only for occasional use so don't want anything too complicated or difficult to remove!

Has anyone got any quality suggestions? 😬

    Cheers

  7. *confused*Does anyone know if its possible to get a full set of silicone hoses for a Kseries, inclusing the heater hoses and elbows, the caterham set seems to exclude them?

My rubber hoses seem to be cracking and perished and so I'd like to replace everything all at once

    Thanks

  8. Thanks Norman/Simon

I thought I'd give the easy option a go first, I've pulled through some more cable to reduce any tension and tweaked the spade connector, testing to follow shortly!!

  9. I have a 1.8K series and lately the spade connector to the starter/solenoid keeps coming off (annoyingly!) its easy enough to keep sliding back on, but just a little bit embarrassing and given its proximity to the exhaust tends to result in foul language at the petrol station *mad*!

Has anyone experienced this before and are there any more permanent fixes than tightening the spade connector *confused*

    Thanks

  10. 😬Brilliant, thanks for your help, I'll get in touch with Dave asap to understand what's involved etc. To be honest, whilst I built my car myself, I don't have the time these days *redface* to fiddle and so would likely want Dave to do as much as he can/is willing which will of course eat into the budget! 😔

One final question would I need the Vernier upgrade also, is that necessary/desirable?

    Thanks

  11. *cool*I have a 1.8 K series Supersport (140bhp) which I have had from new back in 2000, I've been considering an upgrade (I'd like an R500 but can't afford it! *tongue*) so have been thinking about some roller barrel throttles etc to take it up to 160bhp or maybe even a bit more?

Gicen its an EU2 engine Caterham no longer offer an upgrade so wondered if anyone knew what works best, a rough idea on cost and where would be the best place to get the work done (I'm close to Guildford in Surrey)

    Many Thanks

  12. *cool*Can anyone help?

I've got some new Toyo R888's that I have been running on the road at about 17psi, any higher they are like fred flintstone tyres and I lose my fillings!

I've got a trackday on Monday and wondered if anyone knows the best pressures, I'm guessing about 20psi, but would like an expert opinion *tongue*

    Thanks 😬 *thumbup*

  13. *eek*Blimey David, we are almost neighbours 😬(I think I could walk to your workshops!). I think I'm all sorted now, but will maybe pop in to say hello *wavey*at some point. Are you only there from Mon-Fri?

  14. *smile*Anyone know anywhere that is reasonable but "gentle" for set up/tracking in the Guildford area?

Noticed after my 700 mile blat around Wales at the weekend *cool*that my steering wheel is now not completely straight when the wheels are dead ahead, so guess things must have moved ! New Toyos on so no sign of uneven wear...yet.

    Help appreciated *wavey*

  15. Can anyone help? A mate of mine with a Classic VX was toghtening his battery terminals when he made contact with the bodywork from the live terminal *nono*, there were a few sparks but no drama. Issue is it now won't start! *confused*

We have all other electricals no problem, an ignition light but nothing else, not even a click! Is there a fuse on the starter circuit somewhere around the starter motor?

    Any suggestions greatly received.

    Thanks
