  1. Stu, its got throttle bodies. Should the catch tank be completely empty then? It's faily full at the moment. Is that basically an overflow then? she's blue and a super sport, and now with extra grrrr 😬. Pictures now here
  2. Hi all, bit of a tappety noise coming from the engine over the weekend, so Sunday morning checked the oil seemed a bit low so added some more. Went out for 3 hours or so, the handling was really odd, quite loose back end. When I got out there was oil all over the drivers side rear wheel, and arch and up the drivers side of the car. Found where the oil was coming from, it was from the top of a resevoir (?) just under the nose cone on the drivers side. I've got a 1.8 K series with an appollo tank. Sorry for the numpty question but what is this resovoir thing? And can I empty it a bit, oh - and I guess more importantly it is engine oil I assume and not anything else? Thanks she's blue and a super sport, and now with extra grrrr 😬. Pictures now here
  3. Mine fell off last year, tried a few different adhesives, but had my windscreen repalced as well (which is becoming a faily regular occurence), so decided to go for a suction mount one instead. Works very well, never fallen off. I got it from a halfrauds for not very much. Highly recommended anyway she's blue and a super sport, and now with extra grrrr 😬. Pictures now here
  4. Hi all, I moved my pedals a few weeks ago to the furthest position away from the driver so my knees don't rub against the steering wheel. I adjusted to the clutch cable so biting point was correct but forgot to do anything with the brake push rod (?). I've been out a coupole of times with it, and maybe it's because I haven't driven her since before Christmas but the brakes don't feel like they used to, they don't feel as sharp. Anyway this weekend I moved the push rod thing as well, now the nuts are as far to the end of the rod as possible without falling off. I've been out again briefly aqnd the brakes seem better I think but not as I remember them last tear, they still seem a bit spongy. So my questions are (sorry they're numpty) did I adjust the push rod thing the right way? What does it do anyway - I guess there's some sort of cylinder in the master brake thingy? Would moving the pedals make the brakes spongy or should I look elsewhere - as I say not really used her for the last 3 months? I'm off to Abingdon on Friday so I guess it'll become very apparent very quickly if there is something a miss. she's blue and a super sport, and now with extra grrrr 😬. Pictures now here

  6. Mike, yep just had it done - well in December. She's fantastic now, she was good before a 1600 Supersport, but now has real extra grunt, and acceleration in the mid range is just brilliant. Also had a new exhaust at the same time (the racing exhaust - budget couldn't stretch the R500 titanium though), plus racing clutch and few other bits and bobs. It's worth noting that the upgrade removes the immobilizer, so you have to get a toad fitted. I've encountered some bunny hopping initially, but I think thats more to do with my driving, and I'm still learning about the characteristics of the car. Also it's a bit lumpy to start on a cold morning. Supprosed how many people have had it done. Not sure if what Simon just trying to convince me to get it done, but he did say now R500 production has stopped they do not have a huge amount of parts left - as I say that may just be sales talk. It added about £50 to the insurance and for mine took about 3 weeks to complete (although that was with some backend work as well) Can't wait to get it on the track - probably Abingdon in March to see what she can really do. she's blue and a super sport, and now with extra grrrr 😬. 12. Tom, I have 14 inch wheels, and use 48s all the time. When I decided to go for them I did quite a bit of research (thanks to Angus for a lot of it) and it was between the 500's (and change wheels) or the 48's. I couldn't afford to change the wheels as well, so went for the 48's and have never looked back since. I was getting loads of understeer (probably my driving) on the old set of standards, and they've gone with these. And they're great on the track too. IIRC the exige is now clad with 48s as well for every day driving. As for wet weather, if you remember I came tippy toeing by you in Cornwall on one very wet very muddy day back in September. I've not driven in the ice and snow so can't comment on that, other than I reckon whatever tyre you have on your 7, it will be hairy and fun all at the same time 😬 BTW hope you managed to get home from Dartford the other week as well? she's blue and a super sport, soon to have extra grrrr
  13. Just seen you pulling out of a drive on the high street in Wivenhoe - just visiting or do you live here? she's blue and a super sport, soon to have extra grrrr
  14. Dave is this what you mean? http://www.webcon.co.uk/alpha/shift_light.htm Are these easy to setup? Caterham quoted £300+ for fitting one of theirs which seems a bit steep. Would be after one of these if they're easy to install and calibrate. she's blue and a super sport (formerly gm859)
  15. Having been rear ended recently, while my car's in having it's repairs, I'm taking the oppertunity to get the rear wheel arches resprayed and armourfended (or whatever equivilent caterham use). They've quoted £55 for respray of each wing, and £110 to armourfend them both. she's blue and a super sport (formerly gm859)
