  3. Thanks Arnie, much appreciated
  4. Greg, I can't do the original cycle wings but at £11,500 there should be change to make it wide track & cycle wings. As to the rest :- Standard 175bhp on Carbs (45) - did have & then added the side exhaust Cycle Wings - sorry Limited Slip Diff - has got B R Green + Yellow anniv stripe - Miami blue & anniv stripe .. far less common Competition Exhaust (side mounted) - does have Full Weather Gear - yup inc new hood Big Brakes - sorry, but I do have green stuff pads similar performance less unsprung weight Wide Track - sorry FIA roll bar - yup, in yellow to match the stripe Leather Seats - yup blue match the dash Immobiliser - yup Heater - yup HPC 16" Wheels - yup & a spare set of minilights if you want them. So how much to get the cycle wings & re-spray??? Geoff
  5. I have taken no offence by any comments, I know the car is a good one, I also know that for a caterham it is fairly high mileage (although for any other make 43k miles in 11 years is very little .... infact I am quite proud of the fact that it has been used .... just wish more of the miles had been mine). Greg what different spec are you after .... how can I convince you? Especially now that you know it has an interesting history .... on which note it also has motorbike indicators on the nose cone, I am told that there were 3 made like this to get approval for the German market. Geoff
  6. As ever Kev, you spot the things other don't (& rightly so) ... trouble is that the profiles bit doesn't seem to work. I better do some editing! Geoff
  7. I cannot get into profiles, it will let me type my name, but I am unable to type my password. thanks Geoff Geoff J392PPD VX & Flares how untrendy can I be?
  8. Thanks folks, certainly all essential maintenance (cam belts etc have all been done) as far as I am aware the car is hail & hearty, I have never had any problems in the 5 years I have owned it. Point take on the wheels, I will get them out of the roof ready to fit ..... I did think that at this price if somebody wanted to change the flares they could do it & not loose out Geoff J392PPD VX & Flares the perfect combination! 9. Ok £11,500 then .......... I need the space & having made the (tough) decision to sell the car I would just like to get it done. Geoff J392PPD VX & Flares ... the perfect combination! Edited by - Geoff Johnson on 11 Mar 2004 11:46:54
  10. Lots of you have looked at this post, only a few nibbles ..... where am I going wrong??? Geoff J392PPD VX & Flares the perfect combination! Edited by - Geoff Johnson on 11 Mar 2004 11:45:55

  12. Mine is though! Geoff J392PPD VX & Flares how untrendy can I be?
  13. Wife & 2 small children mean that I no time to use the car (also the garage is probably needed for prams/buggies etc etc) So the spec, it is on a J plate & I am led to believe one of the first 3 VX HPC Carbs made, I have confirmed with caterham that it was supplied in component form to Andy Noble. The current spec is metallic mid blue, yellow nose band/stripe & FIA roll bar with flares. Blue leather seats (drivers with 4 point harness), matching blue dash. Hood & bag, tonneau. I have had the car about 4 years & in that time had a new hood, new side exit exhaust, 3d ignition, QED 42H cams all supplied & fitted by James Whiting. 2 sets of wheels & tyres, currently running on 13 inch minilites & yoko 21r's. In the roof I have the original HPC wheels & michelins (probably not much life in the those those tyres though). The car handles better on the 13inch wheels, but looks better on the HPC wheels. Your choice. 43,600 miles hence only £12,500 Geoff J392PPD VX & Flares the perfect combination! Edited by - geoff johnson on 11 Mar 2004 09:12:17 Edited by - geoff johnson on 11 Mar 2004 11:44:39
  14. IMHO this is awesome 😬 http://www.asciimation.co.nz/beer/ Geoff J392PPD VX & Flares how untrendy can I be?
  15. Try it with extra strong mints! Geoff J392PPD VX & Flares how untrendy can I be?
  16. Hi Kev, still there or is big brother now watching? Geoff J392PPD VX & Flares how untrendy can I be?
  17. check your oil. My car gets very tappity, then I stopped believing the dip stick (rightly it turned out) To have the correct amount of oil the level shows about 2 cm above the max on the dip stick. No probs now Geoff J392PPD VX & Flares how untrendy can I be?
  18. Hi Mick, yup mine is still on webbers. James had to get the exhaust made up from an old set of plans, mine was done about 18 mths back. My plan is certainly to move over to the upgraded cams & get that 20/25 bhp more. The car felt much more responsive after the exhaust & ignition change as well. I did what I did as a base to build on ... & doesn't everybody always need more power? Arnie are you happy that you have enough yet? Geoff J392PPD VX & Flares how untrendy can I be?
  19. Mick, I changed to 3Dignition & a James Whiting spec side exhaust (4 into 1, tuned lengths) the betting on my car is c 190/195 bhp the exhaust was pretty pricy, c £1100 from memory, but I am told that going to 215/220 will now only cost c£500 Geoff J392PPD VX & Flares how untrendy can I be?
  20. jboult, I had a similar problem when I first got my car, the heater matrix is higher than the top of the rad, so you might find that you have a big airlock. Geoff J392PPD VX & Flares how untrendy can I be?
  21. Steve does have photo's of the mod he did & can explain the process better than I Geoff J392PPD VX & Flares how untrendy can I be?
  22. Carlos, I have been having the same problems & think I understand at least some of your problems. I have synergy 40 oil in mine & seems great, however if filled to the levels on the dipstick suffered tappet noise when the level was full, it tended to die away after a few minutes use, when the level was half way (as I was always taught, so that I did not get too much pressure on the gaskets) the noise was much more regular & also came after times of high revs. Various theories were put forward .... oil aeration etc etc. Having had the professionals have a look over, drain it completely, etc etc & fill with exactly the amount of oil recommended by caterham the dipstick shows that it is over filled, the level is now about 1cm above max..... odds are that your dipstick is wrong. The tapping is caused because there is not the oil pressure to pump up all the tappets & keep them pumped. Geoff J392PPD VX & Flares how untrendy can I be?
  23. It seems to me that something must be do-able with the LED type ones that some street fighters have, I have not looked into it, but bike magazines might help Geoff J392PPD VX & Flares how untrendy can I be?

    Guages

Knowley, it is worth checking how it earths as well, that is often the main problem if more than one gauge has problems, I have a dodgy fuel gauge & rev counter, other stuff comes & goes occasionally, I keep meaning to sort out a proper earth, but it all adds to the character (in a slightly annoying way) Geoff J392PPD VX & Flares how untrendy can I be?
  25. or James Whiting in Ashford (Middx), I cannot recommend him enough Geoff J392PPD VX & Flares how untrendy can I be?
