Thanks all... Re the sump, it can be re welded, the numerous welds it appears to have had over the years, tells a tale in its self, ☹️ I just thought that with all the other work I am having if I could get a better one great ...I will ask NMS to get it rewelded, and thanks for the Titan tip on the scavenge pump ( ECR ) . But if any one has a sump or knows some one I would still be interested to buy, the sump will not be required for a few weeks yet !!

Hi I am in need of a Caterham alloy dry sump pan for my Vauxhall XE engine, plus I need a Caterham scavenge pump, any one know if they may have such items tucked away in your garage, for sale ????? If so please let me know as my engine is in bits at Northampton Motor Sport and I am trying to reduce the overall cost that will be looming rapidly. Thanks Peter *confused*

Thanks for the thoughts, as a matter of interest during the internet search I found 5W 50 from Motul which seems to be the same suppier as Caterham oil, 5 litres for £25 ish....much cheaper than anything else, I think it was from Amozon of all places !!. Going on what has been said I will give Miller 10w 60 a try and see if I can see any difference. Thanks to all who replied. Peter

Hi all I have just sorted out a leaking dry sump pan on my VX engine, now comes the question, what oil to use, to re fill it. Previous owner recommended 5w50 oil, the engine is producing 250 bhp, with a dry sump,does it need to be a 5w 50 grade or could I use Mobil 1 0w 40 for example, I read some where that going over 40 grade can have other negative effects, to counter balance the ability to take high revs. There seems to be very little difference in price, but I have used Mobil 1 in a lot of other cars and its easier to get hold . What are the pros and cons ???? Peter

Hi Re the last two questions...can size is a 7 inch. Fixings are.. 1 x bracket in front of the can, 1x bracket behind the can and 1x bracket just on the bend of the exit pipe. Hope that helps. Peter

I have for sale/ auction a Stainless Powerspeed twin silencer rear exit exhaust, on e bay, Vauxhall engined car, ie Near side exit, like new. Listed under Caterham/ Powerspeed. Starting price £100....retail for £900 plus. Maybe a limited market ,but might be somebody out there !! Peter
