  1. OK guys, good news, it’s fixed!

Went and had another look and turns out the light switch was sticking and not actually switching dipped beam on properly - so on sidelights. Fixed switch and lo and behold it works.

    Thanks for all the help!

  2. Need some ideas please guys?

Cant get the light to work, Have checked the following:

    1. Fuse - is OK

    2. Run a cable direct to the lamp itself and it’s working fine

    3. Changed the switch for a new one

    4. Pulled the plug in the rear arch and remade the connection

    Still not working!

    Help please?

  3. Cheers!

It’s a CSR so standard cossie 2.3D. That hole looks like exactly in the right place though, so thanks for that! I suspect it’s also maybe the source of the oil leak! Sounds like the plug screws in but likely needs the crankcase cover to be off to enable it to turn?

  4. I have a smallish oil leak which Is from the bottom of the crankcase. I intend to clean it up and try a wee touch of sika flex on to see if it will hold it back. However I notice there’s one set screw down low just off the centre at the front of the engine  (rather than a bolt). It’s in this area it’s leaking, however adjacent is a small black wedge type semi circle of metal, which rests within the casting, not sure what this is for and whether it can be temporary popped out prior to sealing?

  5. Late last season my CSR developed an oil leak when it was parked up - bottom of the engine/sump area near the front. Tightened up the bolts at front and seemed to sort it. Now however it seems to be leaking at the rear of the sump.

Wondered if this is a common issue and do I need to remove sump and replace gasket or what?

  6. Interested in what price the tyres were please David?

Below quote from BMTR but also need to add in postage at £30 and fitting at £65

    195/50R15 - £111.65 + vat, per tyre

    245/40R15 - £140.07 + vat, per tyre

    Cheers Finlay

  7. Looking at this a bit more you can indeed buy Toyos new in the correct size for the front - for half the price of ZZS.

However it seems  ZZS are the only tyre that will fit the rear.

So mix and match and no mods or spend a fortune and end up having to make some mods.

    What a joke.....

  8. Thanks David

This whole tyre business is starting to irritate me. Being quoted £630 for a set mail order then another £60 odd to fit means £700 for a set of Caterham 15” tyres is dearer than for my 19” tyres on my M4 BMW.....

Plus to add insult they don’t even fit without making some mods, I mean who thought that was a good idea?!

Is it only Avon that can be obtained in 245 rear section I wonder?

  9. The CR500s on my CSR have loads of tread and fine on dry track but a bit of a handful on cold wet roundabouts so I think age wise they no longer suit the cold climate up here in Scotland.

Looking for recommendations for what will primarily be a road car please? (Running standard wheels 15” diameter). Also where to purchase the new tyres from?

    thanks in advance
