  1. Has anyone received theirs yet?

Yes. It took a couple of weeks, I think (from memory).

Neat little piece of kit, I'm impressed.

    *thumbs_up_thumb*

At first I thought it was "too wide" because I was having trouble "just braking" any amount more than a light dab without catching it, so considered taking a hacksaw to it, but...

    1. Looking at my brake pedal and where it doesn't have paint any more it's very clear that I push on the right hand side of the pedal, not centrally, presumably because my left foot on the clutch forces this (and possibly, for five years I've been trying to heel-and-toe...).

    2. I had a longer think and realised my throttle pedal was closer to me than it needed to be. I've adjusted the cable to drop the pedal away some, which has put it in a far better place for h-and-t when you're hard on the brakes, which is when you need/want it.

All in all, a great improvement!

  2. In need of a heated windscreen for an SV. Uncracked and with the heating elements actually working, obviously; so unlike either of mine.

All I actually *need* is the glass, with flyleads attached of course, and maybe the seal between the glass and frame.

However, if you've gone aero of late on your SV and have a full heated screen assembly now taking up space in your garage, I'd be interested in talking. Ideally in a black frame but not really important as I can swap the bits across.

  3. Interesting.

Simon would have been leaving in his yellow car at about that time, but in convoy with Dave and his green / yellow stripe, on the way to Bakewell.

We were heading out also (red) but solo from Sheffield, and then in convoy with Philip (green / yellow stripe) and Chris (also red) from Bamford and out along the Hope Valley.

Didn't see any other 7s apart from NicMac (blue) until we got to Curborough!

  4. I will very shortly (within a few days) be replacing my worn tyres with new, so if anyone wants 4off 195/45 R15 CR500 tyres, shout up quick so I don't ask the tyre fitters to dispose of them.

Variously 2-2.5mm of tread left, possibly as much as 3mm in some places on some tyres, so increasingly not great on wet roads but an amount of track day life remaining. Roughly 18 months since fitting and they were bought new at that time, so they're still rubber not plastic.

Free to a club member or £10 per tyre to a non-member.

    Collection only, from Sheffield.

Comment and private message me here, or email syorks@lotus7.club

    Thanks!

  5. Why bother?

    Increased visibility.

The standard Caterham rear lights - all of them - are frankly terrible. Position, stop and indicator lights are universally poor.

LEDs tend to be brighter and more noticeable. The front indicators are OK, but even then  the LED versions are brighter and more immediately noticeable, as we've found on the Defender.

  6. Yes, the relay I've used runs a mix. I have LEDs at the rear and as the front repeaters, but for some reason I now can't explain didn't think to swap the incandescent front units for LEDs during the front lights refresh.

The only issue you need to watch for is that some relays are *only* for LEDs, as these may be rated at a low power such as 30W - given an individual incandescent can take 20W, when you have more than one, e.g. have the hazards on, said relay will burn out. Ask me how I know. Or, just read about it in my blog...

  7. They're fine Chris, although you'll need an LED compatible flasher relay such as one of these

Maybe Ian's had better luck with that particular flasher relay (the one marked "0.1 - 150W") but the one I bought - from that linked, reputable, eBay seller back in 2015 - lasted 160 miles. I wasn't impressed, particularly given we were on a 200 mile blat at the time and dusk was approaching.

Shortly afterwards - still in February 2015 - I replaced it with one of these WIPAC units:

    It's been perfect ever since.
