  1. Nice one chaps. There's currently some serious dangling going on in my cockpit (although at least it's a warm cockpit (sometime stifflingly so now)), especially on the bends... i'll drill a hole this weekend and put an end to it all. Thanks everyone for your contributions Pikelet 😬
  2. Hi everyone, I've fitted a heater but i'm not entirely sure where the standard location for the heather valve control should be fitted. I could drill a hole and fit it to the scuttle, but ergonomically, this would be a nightmare as i probably couldn't reach it to open the valve! Any suggestions? Pikelet 😬
  3. Cheers everyone and thanks for the very kind offer Paul... i may take it up Seems I was certainly thinking along the right lines. I'll make a start this weekend and see how i get on. The plan is to get the rust off them and give them a lick of paint, so they must be compressed and subsequently released. Hopefully they wont burst through the ratchet straps and boing accross the garage. 😳 Pikelet 😬
  4. Cheers all, I'll engineer some sort of solution. I thought that might be the case; people just improvise. I'll give it some thought this weekend and if i lose some fingers or maybe one of my eyes, i'll cite Blatchat during the hearing with Claims Direct. Pikelet
  5. Whilst stood in the garage last night with a fresh brew I was pondering how i remove the springs from my front shocks. My spring compressors are too thick to go between the coils and when removed, at full extension, the retaining collars have the springs tightly up against them preventing the collars from being slipped off and the springs slipped off the end of the damper. How on earth to i get the springs off? I'm certainly i've missed something obvious. Cheers, Pikelet 😬
  6. Mail and photos are winging their way...
  7. Mine does that because i have an inch long, vertical split in the casing!! Fear not though, as mine's a cast iron one and yours is posh alloy. I believe mine is cracked because when i assembled the engine (Zetec) and box (non-posh type 9) the allen bolts i used were a knats member too long. It's tricky to explain without diagrams 'n' stuff, but when lying on the garage bench in a pool of its own oil, it seems easy to see why this happens.... ...behind each of the four threaded holes on the g'box, it can be seen that the housing flares outward, so if the bolts are too long, they foul on the gearbox's sides and are forced outward. I've since acquired a new 'box (£20 off eBay!), from which i intend to salvage a non-cracked maincase. This time, i'll use perfect-length bolts. I've drunk lots of Peroni tonight, so i may be mumbling somewhat. Appologies there 😳. Pikelet 😬
  8. Alba, Could you mail me your email address please; i'll send you some pictures. ...while we're on the subject, does anybody know what's a pair of Vx engine mounts likely to be worth (Alba, if they are compatible with yours, you're not allowed to take part in this part of the discussion! )? Pikelet 😬 It's been a good day, i got tanned and Blatted in the sun
  9. I have a pair of Vauxhall engine mounts that i wish to sell. The question is, does anyone out there know if the 8v engine mounts and the 16v Red Top mounts are the same... I'd heard that both engines shared a common block, suggesting that in fact they were the same. Can anyone confirm please? Cheers, Pikelet 😬
  10. Ooof, that's gonna sting in the bath later!
  11. My pride and joy (along with the Seven) has to go. I just don't want a chav to have it! It's on eBay Click here One day i'll own another, i can't believe how much fun it's been. I'll be very sorry to see it go. Pikelet ☹️
  12. I get terrible stomach ache after a blat on my own but when i'm out with Mrs Pikelet I don't suffer any trouble. It dawned on me that i'm going at ten tenths, becoming tense and holding my stomach in due to the thrill! Just have to remind myself to relax a tad! Pikelet 😬
  13. I bought this when my ECU died last year. It was a case of trial and elimination of the major components in the chain. Unfortunately my MBE ECU had died. 😔 Anyway, this leaves me with a spare Ignition Amplifier module. This bad boy cost me £37.95 unfortunately. 😔 My engine at the time was a 1.6, 8 valve, Vauxhall with an ignition coil (and an amplifier) so i suspect that in addition to the 1.6 Vx engines out there, this could well be fine for the 2 litre engine too. If anyone wants a picture (of the unit, not me ), PM me. £15 + P+P Pikelet 😬
  14. Can i have first dibs on the Hood bag please? ..is it in good condition? Pikelet 😬
  15. Travelling north-bound in the bible-tail style rain (3 crashes/incidents i counted between Staffs and Wigan!!), anyway, BRG & Silver on a Trailer, on the M6. I saw you just after J22 just before another epic shower. Hope you got home safely, You looked tired! Pikelet 😬
