Because of the armco central barriers it was difficult to see, but two possible sightings 7s travelling north on the A26 in the late morning somewhere south of Laon. The first all I could see was two shiny helmets and a rollover bar and the second a fleeting glimpse of a 7 grill. 12. When I put the immobliser key in the flashing red light will not go to a constant green it sort of flashes red and green. Can anyone suggest a solution. Looks like I'll be going to Oulton Park in the tin top this weekend ☹️ 'Here comes the Miller man' (apologies to Human League) in a red supersprint with clamshells.
  13. Hi Sootysevener, I acquired the tank secondhand complete with the sender in it. I have now spoken to Mick at Redline Components and am taking the easy way out by fitting a new gauge but thanks for the information. Regards 'Here comes the Miller man' (apologies to Human League) in a red supersprint with clamshells.
  14. Cheers, I'll speak to Redline in the morning. 'Here comes the Miller man' (apologies to Human League) in a red supersprint with clamshells.
  15. Thanks, so it looks like a new gauge is required. Afraid I knacked the old sender unit trying to undo a rusted solid connection ☹️ 'Here comes the Miller man' (apologies to Human League) in a red supersprint with clamshells. Edited by - David Miller on 23 Apr 2006 23:01:21
  16. The further I go the fuller the tank gets , at least that’s what my fuel gauge is telling me today. Last weekend I finally fitted my replacement fuel tank. When I turned the ignition on the fuel gauge went to almost full with only a gallon of fuel in. Suggestions were that it was a bad earth. Anyway I disconnected the fuel gauge and went and filled up with 10 litres of fuel. I remade the earth connection, reconnected the gauge and it showed half full, so everything seemed fine, until today. The gauge is a VDO whereas the sender on the replacement tank is a Smiths. Are the two not compatible or is there another likely problem? 'Here comes the Miller man' (apologies to Human League) in a red supersprint with clamshells.
  17. Mine says '1700 Super Sprint' on the cam cover. 'Here comes the Miller man' (apologies to Human League) in a red supersprint with clamshells.

  19. Thanks Richard, I'll have another go at the earth connection in particular. 'Here comes the Miller man' (apologies to Human League) in a red supersprint with clamshells.
  20. Looks like I need a Smiths gauge. The serial no on the sender unit is TB1114/034 which Google comes up with Smiths. On the old rusty unit I can just make out ?DO. Will the Smiths gauge just swap with the VDO or will some wiring have to be modified? 'Here comes the Miller man' (apologies to Human League) in a red supersprint with clamshells.
  21. Help! I've finally got round to swapping fuel tanks on my 1990 XF. Everything has gone fine until I turn the ignition on and the fuel gauge shows full with only a gallon of fuel in. I reconnected the green & red wire to the top of the sender and two black ones to the top of the body of the sender. The fuel gauge is a VDO. Without being too technical what is likely to be wrong please? 'Here comes the Miller man' (apologies to Human League) in a red supersprint with clamshells.
