Hi-spec do not not have the best rep for customer service (just do a web search), however they do make very nice callipers and have an excellent agent in Martin Bell at: www.thekitcarworkshop.co.uk No connection etc, just a happy customer. If you want Hispecs go through Martin - it's the same price BUT he goes out of his way to ensure that everything is spot on and you're happy. Dan
  2. Hi Luke, Wrong Dan! 'Twas me with the Warrior K Fury, now sold and residing in the Luton area ☹️ Dan B has a Blackbird powered tart-mobile, sorry Fury (amongst others!!) 😬 HTH Dan

  5. The two weeks did include their engineer being on holiday for a week plus i wasn't in too much of a hurry at the time. Richard verbally agreed over the phone with me that “if the fault is GEMS” then the repair will be free of charge, however “if the fault is mine” then he quoted the repair as a maximum charge of £75.00 to me. When eventually billed they tried to charge me £35 for the 'unspecified part' and i just reminded their accounts people of my agreement with Richard. In the end i think i only paid for the postage incurred to return it to me next day. Dan
  6. TorAtle Be aware that you'll need to speak with Richard Armitage at GEMS and NOT Richard Lloyd. IMHO RA is much more customer focussed and easier to deal with, RL is a bit of a boffin and can be frustratingly difficult to relate to. I had a problem with my 1996 GEMS ECU last year (sudden back-fires, loss of power & then total cut-out), sent it back to them for checking, took 'em approx a fortnight to fix - still don't know what was wrong (& GEMS wouldn't say!). The invoice had an unspecified part replaced on it. HTH Dan J (Hmmm, got me wondering though - My ECU is on the bulkhead....)
  7. Gareth, What provisions are you having to make for oil surge? (baffles or dry sump?) Where have you sourced a bell housing from? (one off or off the shelf?) Which ECU have you gone for? Can you tell i'm intrigued? Alex, How about the KV6 (2.0 or 2.5),QED had one on show at Autosport? Dan J Edited by - dan j on 21 May 2003 12:50:38
  8. Thanks chaps for the replies. The temp sender in question is way too big to be let into the sump plug so i wondered whether i could recut it to the correct thread to 'be' the sump plug. On examination this looks a tad risky so i'm having a brass adapter made up to give a female M14 x 1.5 to Male 1/8npt so i can fit the sender straight into the side of the Apollo where it's meant to go. Dan J
  9. Can anyone tell me the thread on a K Wet sump plug? It looks v similar to the M14 x 1.5 on an Oil temp sender i have sitting here on my desk.... Sods law says they're different, the question is by how much? Dan J
  10. Yup, "Very" unusual ❗ And you mentioned V8's without commenting on weights Dan Warrior 1400K 151bhp 😬
  11. Paul, Have a chat with Stuart Taylor here They've successfully shoehorned a number of V-twins into the Phoenix. May not be viable for a sevenesque car as to get decent propshaft angles you'll end up with one cylinder sticking out the nearside behind the front wheel. I also advise you to have a look on the BEC yahoo list - populated by a bunch of 'nutters' (freindly ones ❗) who are only interested in Bike Engined Cars. A trawl through their archives will answer most of your questions straight away. Gordong, Just boxed up the wishbones - will send them out to you today 1st class. 12. Having said "At £62 it seems rude not to...", i notice that RS list a number of likely contenders and i'm loathe to pay more than i have to just for the sake of it. Can anyone (who understands what is needed!) advise/comment? The RS part #'s are: - 384-7650 722-564 237-2458 283-8302 Dan J
  13. It may be because there's not a lot of mark up in it for them. Think auto have just confirmed that the price of £62 (all in) represents a 50% discount !!! The retail price of the flap valve alone is £80+ At £62 it seems rude not to... Dan J
