  1. One more thing...You guys who have fitted them recently, should the triangular black mounts rotate on their bolts/hat-spacers? I've read some posts that say they do and some that say they now don't. I never got a reply from Chriss at CC re that one. DM My Sigma 125 SV build photos
  2. I am hoping to get the car started this week, but want to know if I have a problem first. I have filled the clutch (its light but I don't think their are any air bubbles in the braided hose) but still can't select any gears, clutch up or down. Is this ok? Is something just a bit out of line/ceased and will all be ok once I start/turn over the engine or do you think something more sinister is wrong (ie engine out again)? Cheers DM My Sigma 125 SV build photos
  3. I have jsut spoken to Sean at CC and he is sending me a new RH harness. He says the rear mounting point will be fine, so I have no idea why there are two on the inboard side.??? DM My Sigma 125 SV build photos
  4. Is there any reason why I couldn't use the rear of the two captive nuts for the inboard lap strap bolt? The front one is not taking the bolt and I was wondering if I could just use the other mount in the chassis. The manual shows the forward mounting, but will the rear get in the way of leather seats/result in a bad fitting harness? And I've just realised that I have two sets of LH harnesses - does this mean both people will have the buckle on their RH side or do I need CC to send me another? 5. All being well, I have my PBC and IVA pencilled in for 11th-20th June with CC Midlands(as long as I get my forms sent off in the morning). I'm going to drop the car off in Leicester on the way to Scotland and pick it up on the way back (unless it fails and has to be collected at a later date). Is there anyone in the S Wales area or not too far off the route from Dorset to S Cardiff that might be so kind as to lend me a trailer for a week? There will of course be reimbursement in the form of beer, cash, NtL donation, or similar. Failing that, does anyone know of a cheap trailer rental company? Thanks DM My Sigma 125 SV build photos
  6. Ah yes, another adapter will be needed then. Thanks DM My Sigma 125 SV build photos
  7. Already got that one as I found that most of my sockets in the size range needed to do the build are 3/8" and my torque wrenches are 1/2" and 1/4". So I have both step-up and down adapters. Still doesn't help in getting to some of those awkward nut/bolt heads though!! Thanks DM My Sigma 125 SV build photos
  8. Bargain! For that price I might as wel get one. I was expecting to need to pay 4 times that much. Need to go on another little spending spree anyway to buy carpet tape/velcro, glue, MORE masking tape and new drill bits. Also need to find a garage that will straighten the pad-locating notches in one of my brake pistons as they are off-vertical alignment at the moment so the pad won't fit. Going to book the IVA for about a months time too. Scary! Cheers DM My Sigma 125 SV build photos
  9. Does anyone in/around Cardiff have a 41mm socket that I could borrow to tighten my drive shafts? Thanks DM My Sigma 125 SV build photos
  10. That is exactly what I wanted to hear as I have just this evening fitted de dion tube and dampers with the standard radius arms. I thought they would do something like that re the sensor mountings. Parents are visiting this weekend and Dad sounds eager to get involved, so we may even have a go at a first start if we have time. Thanks again Dm My Sigma 125 SV build photos
  11. I'll use the breaker bar then. Was just a little concerned I couln't get it in gear. Now just got a bit more concerned I've used the wrong washers for the diff mounting... Thanks My Sigma 125 SV build photos
  12. Ok, second question this evening (clearly my brain isn't working very well)! I have a standard 125 SV and can't find the rear ARB in the kit. Should I have one? i don't have the orange rubber mounts but do have the brackets to attach to the de dion ears. Am I missing a lot or have I been given stuff I don't need? Thanks again DM My Sigma 125 SV build photos
  13. I was going to try putting it in gear, but I can't as I can't move the gear stick into gear. Is this because the clutch hasn't been filled/bled and the gearbox isn't full of oil and therefore can't be used? Bit of a newbie question I know, but I am one after all. Failing that, I'll go down the screwdriver/bar through the UJ route. Thanks My Sigma 125 SV build photos
  14. Thanks chaps. I'll just stick it in gear on Monday when I get back in the garage. Right, off to Oslo for the weekend. Enjoy your blatting/building in the sun back here. DM My Sigma 125 SV build photos

  16. Right, I've gone through the trauma that is beating through the top diff bolt (the washers better be right as I don't think I could get it out again!) and now have the simple task of torquing the prop-diff bolts. Am I missing a trick as the propshaft just turns when I try to torque the bolts? Should I waiit until I can put the car on its wheels and then do it as the prop won't be able to turn then? Thanks again POBC DM Edited by - Dan Marsh on 22 Apr 2010 20:45:45 Edited by - Dan Marsh on 22 Apr 2010 20:46:23

  18. Martyn, Is that just a big aluminium spacer? Is it held on with anything other than the cable tension? Seems silly that the pedal is designed with the need for so much adjustment. Thanks DM
  19. Do you have to bend the throttle pedal a lot to get it to fit the throttle cable? It looks like mine needs to be bent back to take up about 4cms of slack!! DM
  20. Ah, my manual does indeed say that. I think I had confused myself a bit. That makes sense as well. Looks like there are the mentioned unused holes (from where the battery is mounted transversely in the manual I think). I'll use them. Cheers DM
  21. I am fitting the steering column to my SV 125 and have a black rubber "bush" (around a metal insert with a white plastic inner with a split in it) that fits nicely onto the upper steering column, but where does it go!? The manual doesn't mention it but I recon it goes where the column comes out of the back of the dash before entering the cheese wedge. Is this correct? Do I just wedge it in there? Oh, and where have people attached the little black and yellow earth leads with ring eyelets, on the chassis loom that the manual says " attach to a suitable place on the bulkhead"? Thanks DM Edited by - Dan Marsh on 15 Apr 2010 20:25:05
  22. Thanks. I'll have a go at it tomorrow night maybe. Awaiting the MAP unit from CC still, but every little step gets me closer to finishing. Bring on the summer! DM
  23. The black vacuum hose that joins the MAP unit to the throttle body has not been fitted to the engine as Sean said they usually are. Does it attach very tightly onto a black plastic fitting at the base of the throttle body in a really awkward place? It appears to be the only location, but now the engine is in, its pretty hard to see... Thanks DM
  24. We put the Sigma engine into my new SV build today and I need to know what socket to buy to tighten the big cap-head bolts that secure the engine mountings to the rubbers on the chassis. Is it a 9mm (8 and 10mm are too small and too big respectively) allen or some other imperial size? I'll go and buy one tomorrow if I can find somewhere that'll stock one. Thanks DM
