  1. The good new is that this pan gives me most of the dimensional information I need, for example the depth of the pan, the way it tapers to the front,, the way it is flanged, etc.
  2. Checked the floor pan last nigh. Unfortunately the floor pan doesn’t fit. I’m finding out that a 1986 S3 Caterham with DeDion is an odd ball.It was worth a try but it looks like I’ll be engineering my own.
  3. I ordered the brake pedal/master cylinder bracket from Chris at Redline along with a lowered left side floor pan for my car. Both arrived quite quickly. Very happy with their service and their parts. He will be my go to guy from now one. Great folks!
  4. Thanks Jonathan, as you can imagine, we don’t have much need for the symbol here in the US but working on a Caterham it’s a necessity to know. I truly appreciate your help with this. £ £ £ Thanks Wayne
  5. Thanks everyone for you responses. I did contact Redline and Chris has the part and it’s 125 lbs. I’m in the US and I’m not sure how to get the real pounds sterling symbol to type. Anyway he has it, I ordered it and hopefully that resolves my problem. It’s good to hear that a lot of you saw the same mod on this bracket during that time period. I also checked with Chris on a lowered left side floor pan. I’m still fighting to get more room for my left leg while lifting it to put it on the clutch pedal. My leg just about 3’ or 4” above the knee makes contact with the bottom edge of the panel making it difficult to get my foot up on the clutch pedal. I know I could have fabricated one but this will speed things up and eliminate questions. I still have a ways to go but I’m getting there.
  6. Paul, please let me know if you find something! This would really be a time saver for me. Thanks for your response.
  7. Hey Jonathan! Thanks for your response. At first I thought that it would be possible to do that. After investigation it appears the cross section of the material in that area would probably weaken considerably if I tried that. I do have full capability of making a completely new one but it will require a good bit of time and I thought if I could find one I would buy it instead. Like you, I’m baffled as to where this tab was cut off. My car was never really finished and only has 31 miles on it so I can’t imagine why it got cut off.
  8. I’m working on a 1986 Caterham BDR. Attached are pictures of the bracket for the pedals to pivot on and the master cylinders to attach to. The car originally came with a cable operated clutch but I’m changing it to a hydraulic release bearing. If you notice, one of the tabs where the clutch master cylinder should mount has been cut off. Does anyone have a bracket like this or know of where I can get one. I thought about welding a piece on but this metal doesn’t look like a good alloy to weld. I can try that as a last resort but I thought I would try to find one first. Thanks in advance
  9. I’m in the US but we have a company here that puts on a true ceramic coating used primarily in racing. It isn’t the prettiest finish and it doesn’t get better with handling and age but if you really want a performance benefit this is a good one. The name of the company is Swain Tech Coatings. They are located in New York state. You have to send them your exhause parts for coating, you can’t do it yourself. I have had a couple systems done with it and it definitely keeps the heat down in the engine bay and under the car. As for a notice in performance, I think you would probably have to put your car on a dyno to find out. The theory is that it speeds up the exhaust flow in the pipes and evacuates the the exhaust system more quickly so there is less resistance of gases coming out of the head. Look up White Lightning exhaust coating on the web address below. Swaintech.com
  10. Yes, it does in fact have drums on the rear. It’s amazing how many parts sources show the Di Dion starting in 88.
  11. I have an 86 S3 Caterham. It’s a BDR and has De Dion rear suspension. Below is some of the information I got with my car from the original owner. He was a good friend of mine and never got his car completedd and on the road. He died five years ago and his son got the car and it sat for five more years and he died. I bought the car from his other son. Obviously I’m in the US and I don’t know if the numbering of the chassis were the same for export cars but this one was definitely built in October of 1986. If I can help you in anyway please let me know. I have been arguing the De Dion rear end everywhere. When I try to buy parts I’m told that Caterham didn’t start the De Dion until 1988. I think I have proof that they started before then,
