    A frame bushes

EVERY meeting! Ha-ha!! This all got me thinking...I'm now trying to also sort out a service somewhere. _________________________ 1998 VX1600
  2. Reviving an old one here, but regarding the post from Alex, does anyone know if there's an electronic copy (PDF for example) of the LA build manual anywhere? More specifically, a late 90's Classic that I can use! Been hunting for one for a few weeks now and I've found nothing other than the current stuff on the CC site. _________________________ 1998 VX1600

    A frame bushes

Thanks everyone. Will I need to replace all off the A-frame bushes, or just the central set? Am I right in thinking the Y9 is the central bush (but will need a nylock nut) and the two outer ones are the Y16 bushes? Cheers, Andy _________________________ 1998 VX1600
  4. Are you going to try to learn the track by watchinh you tube vids or playing Gran Turismo? _________________________ 1998 VX1600

    A frame bushes

Cheers Matthew. If you think you're a mechanical numpty, you haven't met me! I'm keen to learn / improve though... Any recommendations on places to buy spares? What tools are required? I've got 'standard' tools, but no fancy gear (no compressor for example). _________________________ 1998 VX1600

    A frame bushes

Thanks Paul, it's a live axle. Where's the best place to order spares from? Are there any tell-tale signs to look out for to indicate they require replacing? Is it the sort of thing I should take with me as backup? _________________________ 1998 VX1600

    A frame bushes

I have a 1998 VX1600 ( ) and I've heard that the A-frame bushes are a common part for replacement. I have a few questions on this topic... 1) Can anyone confirm if this is true? 2) (Excuse my ignorance here, but) where are they located? 3) If I'm doing a long trip into Europe, will I need to be familiar with them, carry spares, and learn how to replace them? 4) Any other advice would be greatly received! Fuel gauge

Cheers guys, I think I know what I'll be doing on Sunday (after a blat, anyway)... Fingers crossed! Andy _________________________ 1998 VX1600

    Fuel gauge

Thanks Paul, I managed to have a quick look-see last night before my fingers froze off! The gauge is moving with the ignition beign switched on and there are no obvious wiring issues by the sender, so from what you're saying, the next step over the weekend will be to take out the sender and check for the other issues you've described. The one thing I wasn't able to replicate though was tricking the gauge to jump to 'full'. Are there any checks I can do with a voltmeter? (Excuse me if this is a particularly daft question...!) Thanks, Andy _________________________ 1998 VX1600

    Fuel gauge

When I picked up my new (1998, so not new really) VX1600, it became apparent that the fuel gauge was not working. The gauge was reading around 1/4 tank when I collected that car, but then when I filled her up, the gauge hardly moved. Does anyone have any advice on what I should investigate and potentially, replace? The things that seem obvious to check (to me) would be wiring between the sender and the gauge, although I know nothing about how to do this, so please bear in mind that I'm a complete novice!
