  4. Looking for a Caterham R500 airbox, either track or race style, in any condition. (I have ordered a new one, but lead time is 2-3 weeks so I need one for measuring etc in the meantime. If anyone has one in any condition please let me know.
  5. Did you manage to resolve this issue? I'm having the same issue with my 420r at the moment.
  6. Looking for an SBD Easymap cabke if anyone has one they would part with?
  7. I have recently used the Sealey bleeder to do my brakes and clutch, it's fantastic works really well. Only thing is tighten up all the connections when you get it as mine didn't come completely air tight, but other than that is was great. I used it with fluid in the container as per the instructions and it worked great, don't have to worry about the reservoir running dry.
  8. Yea likewise, I figured people are always complaining about low oil temp but running a thick oil that pretty much only Caterham recommends. I have asked two Caterham race teams about this when my car was with them, both said 5w40 is fine for a road and track car, one of them said they only used 5w30 in their 420r race cars. Also SBD recommendeds 5w40 for their tuned Duratecs. So I'm happy with that!
  9. I run millers CFS 5w40 NT+ on road and track
  10. Thanks Scott, I will give that a try after work and have a look, I will check the underside of the bonnet for any marks also!
  11. Thanks chaps, no sign of battery clamp issues, or any electrical connections as far as I can tell from above. I will have a look at the tensioner and alt pulley next, awfully tight around the alternator! I haven't got the car in the air yet, is it possible to change the alternator from bellow? Or is it coolant pipe and inlet off etc?
  12. Jonathan, the car is 2020 so not very old, work I have done recently is just general servicing, all the fluids and changed the rad. I did take out the heated seat. And it had two wires and plugs that are indentical on each seat, so there's a chance I didn't plug them back in to the right plugs, but the heated seat works fine so I assumed I had got it right!
  13. Thanks for the tips chaps, I will check all those. the strange thing about the noise is (before I noticed the battery light and had suspicions over the alternator) it seemed to not be present when the bonnet was off, also when I held the springs at the exhaust collector it seemed to dampen it, so it might be unrelated? Fingers crossed anyway. also, one thing I did think, I did let the car idle for about 15-20 mins before I set off out, and had the lights on and the heated seat? Would that be enough to make a overwhelm the alternator and make it do it can't make up the charge when setting off? I would imagine not, but just a thought I had. I will try all the bits suggested, I'm hoping it's a loose connection as I have a Trackday Saturday, and only have Friday off to work on the car! Do doubt I would be able to sort a new alternator before then
  14. Took the car out for a shakedown earlier, once the car was warned up I noticed a weird low rattle almost like a sawing sound only on idle, then about ten mins later in noticed the battery light was coming on and off very intermittently and voltage was at 11.9 and not increasing with revs etc, battery light would still be flashing on and off very intermittently, then when I got home and let it idle on the drive the volts started to climb again, and the sawing noise wasn’t there. seems like alternator is on the way out, but could it be something else causing the alternator to Intermittently charge? Slipping belt or tensioner? Loose wire? And tips on how to diagnose or things to check would be much appreciated!
  15. Selling brand new 420R radiator, fresh from Caterham RRP £425 selling for £360 plus postage, or can be collected from Hertfordshire
  16. Ah I'm buying both from the same place!
  17. I will be removing my drivers seat in order to fit a crotch strap to my 4 point harness. I have the carbon heated bucket seats, they currently sit on the normal adjustable runners. I have the seat all the way back as far as it can go and it's jammed in place anyway, the lever doesn't work. im thinking about buying the non adjustable runners usually used on the passenger side and fitting them to my drivers seat. has anyone else done this? The only think I'm thinking is will I be able to permanently mount the seat as far back as the current adjustable runner goes? also I read the mounts of the crotch strap can foul the adjustable runners causing problems, so I'm hoping fitting the non adjustable runners might solve this?
  18. I had a chance to test the car after using the Redline MTL and the results are fantastic, gearbox feels much slicker to use, lighter shift and no notchy changes whatsoever.
  19. I did email RRT confirming the statement on their site that recommended MTL for the Mazda gearbox. they actually responded saying they now recommend Redline MT-LV (a newer and lighter oil than MTL) I received the email after I had bought MTL, so that's what went in the box, but RRT's recommendation is now MT-LV, I might give it a try when I next change gearbox oil.
  20. No worries! Ah thanks mate much appreciated!
  21. I'm be booked on for the march Silverstone date
  22. I recently changed my gearbox oil to Refline MTL, and the diff oil to Road and Race transmissions LS-90 diff oil which was formulated specifically to quiet down the noisey sintered plate diff, I have not driven the car yet to try it though! and as above, I did it all from under the car with gearbox, it's very easy.
