My only concern with the 50 profile is the size of them, and if they'll actually squeeze under the front wings. I was doing a comparison t'other day via this site and I'm not 100% sure they will. If anyone knows for sure, that'd be fab to know.

This is purely a +1 post so I can subscribe to updates to the thread I'm on 15" wheels, and although everyone keeps saying "put 13s on!" I don't want to do that, yet. But I do need to replace the CR500s on the 15s

There's a great thread here:

Ha! (Messages) Yes, tech isn't always great eh?
OK, no worries on wear photo, appreciate if it's that minimal. I'll take 'em please David. See if you can send me a direct message and we'll swap some details
Thank you

Hello David,
I find with the forum I have to go check messages — it never tells me I've got any Click on the Messages menu thing at the top of the browser page?
But since we're here — I'd expressed interest and wondered if you were able to post a photo of the wear in the hip area you'd mentioned? Please and thank you

It was a fantastic story on PH David. Thanks for dropping your wealth of experience into this thread too — it's been interesting hearing all the different points of view and experience.
I decided to top up with the 0W40 I had, but will do a full oil change for the 5W50 when I start giving it the beans on track days.
Thanks all!

#18 - that's been my decision

Are you DCL on PH per chance David? I ended down a rabbit hole this afternoon and read a whole 9 page thread, spread over a number of years, about a R400->R500 conversion of a race Caterham. It was fantastic. If it is you, kudos for the story telling lengths you went to on that!

A very helpful alternative view James, thank you. Funnily enough the 0W40 I have laying about is Mobil 1 - from my prior 911 ownership.
Forgive my ignorance, but "PRV"? -
#6 Yus 7wotw — checked when running. It's currently pretty low.

Thanks both for responses. That makes a nice balanced view for me to make a decision with.
By the looks of the service book it's been run on 5w40 throughout most of its life, but I suspect it's not been driven as hard as I'm doing. I doubt it's seen any track days and I'm about to do a few - plus in the 500 miles I've owned it it's been "driven" * cough *
I think it's got through some oil in that 500 miles, as the level in the DS tank looks pretty low - it's certainly not up near the baffle as it's documented it should be.

Hello folks,
As the subject says. I seem to have a couple of litres of Mobil1 laying about — although I know the manual says 5W50. Will using it be A Bad Idea?
Many thanks,

I sooo need this! What a fabulous little mod. Do you mind me asking what it cost and if it was part of a larger piece of work by PP? I'm tempted by their combined oil pressure+temp guage, and ultimately the 225 engine upgrade. That'll have to wait a while though
Tyres (yes ... again ...)

Looks like there's a 195/45 in the Toyo TR1, which might be a better all-weather road tyre?
