  1. Looking at them i think it's fair to say that they look 'Similar' to the cafe racer ones, however there is obviously a big price difference.

By the same token the cafe racer ones look 'Similar' to the CC ones, again with a considerable price difference!

Im certainly no expert, but by my logic i would assume that the quality is broadly dependent on price purely due to the economics of it all.   I couldn't justify the price for the CC ones for the amount of time i would rely on them driving in the dark, but by the same token i didn't want to fit something that was of very poor quality.  For me the cafe racer ones seemed like a good compromise that would fit my needs.

I think it would be safe to assume that the ebay ones and the cafe racer ones weren't the same item, and by the logic above, that the cafe racer ones aren't the same spec as the CC ones.  There are certainly lots of choices out there and no real way of telling how good or bad something is until you've bought it and tried it, which is what led me to go on recommendation for mine.

  2. I have used ACF50 in the past and found the viscosity to cause problems when trying to mist it through a pump bottle, as the supplied pump bottle in the kit seems to spray in a jet.  I have thought about warming it up before spraying to thin it a little but hadn't considered mixing with isopropyl alcohol!

  3. I am planning on refreshing the coolant over the winter and am interested if there is a procedure for doing this to avoid airlocks.  I am aware that it can be an issue on a K, but didn't know if there was a preferred way to carry this out on a Duratec ?

  4. Thanks Andrew.  There are a few places that sell these, but it seems that the switching block comes in different models, so using the existing one may be an option to keep costs down.  some sellers below, and hopefully this will help anyone else searching for a fix to this problem in the future!  *thumb_up*

  5. Definitive answer -

I have managed to get the offending switch out and establish manufacturer.

For reference, the switches i have are made by APEM, and the connector needs to be removed before the switch can be pulled through the dash towards the cockpit.  Just requires gentle pressure with a small screwdriver on the plastic tab marked with the arrow to release the connector block.

  6. So here are a couple of pictures of the switches, front and back (As best as i could get the back).  It seems i could also do with a bit of advice on removal of the switch too!

It appears there is a plastic threaded collar on the back which loosens the switch, but then wont go over the connector block.  There is also what seems to be a spacer on the back that spins freely when the plastic collar is loosened off, but i cant see a way of removing the switch either forwards or backwards through the dash ?

  7. Thank you !

Having located it it seems the serial number is ST747.  When speaking to Redline, it seems the sender they supply for this is a ST745.  Would anyone be able to tell me what is fitted to other R500D's or if anyone has had to change one and encountered a similar issue ?

  8. Looking to change the oil pressure sender to the Stack dash in order to eliminate that as a source of erratic readings.  Does anyone know where it is located? How to change it? and what part number it is?  Have had a look on the CC parts website and its not clear if the one they have is generic or specific for the digi dash.

  9. Thanks Graham, thats very helpful.  I was looking at other options such as Halfords, Sealey, Clarke etc and just wondered how the SGS offering stacked up as the price seems very good......  Just mindful the quality didnt suffer as a result
