  1. Thanks for the info. Only one hole(position), as far as I can see. It's just barely reachable with the seats all the way back. I have the PowerFlex bushings in hand.
  2. I"m going to replace the front and rear radius arm bushings (7 and 8 in the image) this weekend. Anything I need to know? I am naively thinking that all I have to do is raise the car and remove the bolts to get the radius arms off. Do I need to worry about the springs blowing up in my face when I take the first bolt off? How about getting the holes lined up when I put it back together?
  3. I've been using a Deltran BTL24A480CW for the last two years in a 1700 SuperSprint. Spins the motor right over. Customer service at Deltran was very helpful when I needed them.
  4. Whats the best method for getting the oil in without dripping it on the seats and carpet?
  5. Update: Received the sender from rkeywood (thanks Robert!) and put it in. It was teh same part as the one I took out. Works as expected. Reading is about the same as the original sender. We'll have to see if the intermittent problem goes away. To confuse things, I topped up the oil. On the dipstick, oil level was in the hash area, about 1/4 from the bottom of the hash. That seemed like enough to me so didn't worry about it. However, to be complete, I added oil to get it to the top of the hash section. For the record, the build sheet lists the sender part as: 360081029039 oil pressure sender-0-5BAR (VDO). The sender is marked 29/39, which corresponds to the last 4/5 digits in the part number. The threads are not pipe threads. Thanks for all the help, David
  6. Several times for 10 to 30 seconds the oil pressure indicated on the gauge went to zero while at idle. It dropped like a stone and when it came back, it zoomed up. Both directions it seemed more electrical than like it was actually reporting changing oil pressure. Engine sight, sound and smell showed no indication of change. Engine is a crossflow 1700 in a 1991 S3 SuperSprint. Gauge is VDO. Sending unit is VDO but I can't find a part number on it. If I pull the wire off the sender, the gauge goes to high, not to zero. I can't tell if 1) the oil pressure actually dropped to zero briefly and returned, 2) the gauge is bad or 3) the sender is bad. If I knew what sending unit to buy I would replace it because it is a relatively easy and inexpensive thing to change and see if it fixes it. Anybody know the model number of the sending unit? I suppose I could change out the gauge also but I don't really think the gauge is bad.
  7. Wiggling the key didn't cause the failure. Pawing all around under the dash didn't' cause it either. All the lights, horn etc. work as expected so no matter how messy the wiring is, it's functional and I'm not inclined to spend time figuring out what was done and why. So far, I have cleaned up a lot of electrical connections. Before I worked on them, I wiggled and pulled to see if engine stopped. No luck so it's hard to know if this will fix it or not. Cleaned up the Alternator connections, the ground connections as directed in the Owners Manual, the fuses, the ignition switch. I'm going to let it ride and see what happens. Thanks for all the advice :)
  8. I had a quick look at the ignition switch. The contacts look slightly corroded. I'll clean them up first thing when I have more than a few minutes. I did find a purple/Yellow disconnected wire near the fuse box. Wonder where it is supposed to be connected? I'm not sure on the ignition question. There is a silver box under the dash which says Lucas electronic ignition amplifier.
  9. 1991 XFlow twice over the last 4 months has stopped running for no apparent reason. The first time I was decelerating on a frontage road about to turn off and it just quit. No hiccup, no sputter. Needles on the gauges went to zero and the engine stopped running. I coasted to a stop in a safe place, thought about it for a minute, then turned the key and it started right up. Yesterday I was making a left turn through an intersection at low speed and it just quit again. I didn’t notice the gauges. I started it up while still coasting and it ran fine all the way home. At twice in four months it’s very intermittent so it will be hard to know if I’ve really fixed it. Any idea on what’s wrong and how to fix it?
