  2. Hi Andy I have had no emails regarding open entries this year. Tony Smith said he received one, hence why he knew Goodwood was open. I believe I'm not the only one. Can you please email me what you have sent others please. Luckily i just got in to Goodwood. Best Regards Lewis Carine
  3. My (probably not wanted) pennies worth. We are trying to make it more cost effective thus hoping more will compete yet we keep the most expensive event in the calendar, run by morons and you get less runs on avg then anywhere else. I know it must be hard to organise and a lot to consider but some very popular events have been removed and one or two unpopular events kept. As said in the meeting you cant keep everyone happy but i feel the majority would gladly not attend Loughton and put the money and milage towards Wiscombe instead. 100% on double headers.
  4. As a fellow southerner i am happy to attend other championships with you. May the abuse continue.

    Battery Location

Interesting. The reason for my questions was not for practical reasons but for motorsport rules. When we race we are scrutineered. Some are more thorough then others and if put in the footwell it will not be visible unless the protective foot panel is removed. But if 620 road legal cars are being produced this way and i race in a road legal class i cant see how they can disallow it. Have you got a picture of the 620 AGM battery and cover in its position? Many Thanks

    Battery Location

Not trying to protect. Want it out of the way. Never use on the road only for sprints and hill climbs. The cabling is a shambles on Caterham's and a really easy fix is moving to the passengers foot well. My 7 is a single seater. The aluminium tonneau cover only comes off for maintenance

    Battery Location

Hi All While i am waiting for my engine to be built i am working on the cars electrics. Due to my OCD i have decided to move my ECU and battery to the passengers footwell. This is very simple and will only require one earth to be replaced for a longer version. A plate will be made to shorten/block off the passengers feet to to the ECU and battery. Does anyone know the rules on putting the battery there. I know some scrutineers always check the battery terminals but apart from that i cant see any other issues. I also checked with my MOT garage and they said the location is fine as long as its covered/blocked from hands or feet. Cheers in advance Lewis
  10. Did anyone get a response after they entered. I entered on the 2nd of July, got an email from evenbrite saying the following.... 'We will be confirming entries by email as soon as possible, please allow 48 hours for us to process entries before contacting about if your entry has been successful we will get back to you as soon as possible' Did anyone get a confirmation? is there an entries confirmed list? Best Regards Lewis Carine

  13. Those who are on the fence to compete for the first time hopefully this will help. 2022 was my first time in the speed championship and my first time competing ever in motorsport and only my 2nd year owning a Caterham. Nervous and unsure was an understatement, but in for a penny in for a pound. My first race/meeting was at Anglesey. Never met a soul within the championship before but upon arrival in the paddock a fellow competitor and now friend approached to welcome me. Richard Price straight away made me feel welcome and started educating me on procedures and gave priceless advice. Another fellow competitor and now friend welcomed me and offered to assist me in driving techniques and confidence, Dan Malkin was a true gentleman and helped me through out the season lowering my times as well as many others. Half way through the season i already new i was competing next year. Everyone and i mean everyone from Class 1 to 7 made me feel welcome, offered advice and above all gave me banter when it was due and took a lot from me being the cheeky chappy i am. Ben Williams was another true inspiring friend made for life who i gladly enjoyed a beer or two after an event. The season came to an end and within a month Justin Dobson and i are messaging on social media thinking of doing track days before the season starts and as per usual he gave me lots of abuse (jokingly of course) but as always advice for next season. Tony Smith as always was the center of a punchline and lets face it we cant let him win as we would never ever hear the end of it. I hope this long winded message gets the point across. Caterham and Lotus 7 in generally are a welcoming punch of folk but the Speed lads and lasses almost become family in a weird way. We push each other on, we fight hard but fair and above all care, trust and respect each other massively. This is the impression i got just in the first year. So get off the fence and get stuck in. You will not regret it. On another note if you think track days are fun you just wait till you try Sprinting and Hillclimbs. Track day fun x 10
