  1. OK will call them tomorrow. Thanks for this.
  2. Oh yes, seat nuts and bolts, had forgotten those, will check, meant to say its a 160. I'm certain it has the lowered floors. Arthur
  3. What ho all Is this a pretty common problem...how long is a piece of string? I've started taking them really slowly indeed, but I wond what hits, not looked underneath yet, but is the floor/chassis, suspension points? Any suitable remedies? The wife and I drove into Sheffield Park NT garden last weekend, and some stiff old high humps there, it bottomed initially, but after the wife ejected, it was some 70kg lighter (!) maybe the remedy has just presented itself! regards Arthur
  4. What ho all I am now very seriously thinking of having the car painted. GP Sevens have quoted around £1500/1600 for the aluminium and nose cone. Apparently they strip the whole front suspension off to do it? Anybody else had work done by them? They look very professional. regards Arthur
  5. I'd be interested in seeing these polishing notes please. email is art@spitfireart.com Whilst on this thread, anyone know if it feasible to retro make an S3 type body (my car is a Suzuki 160) look more like an S1, I noted Axminster panel's website from another thread, and would love aluminium wings and for that matter wire wheels. Arthur
  6. Hi Paul My engine is the 160 Suzuki jewel about the size of a decent battery! I went for a pre beast blat yesterday and was watching the pressure gauge.
  7. Hi Peter Sounds very helpful, many thanks.
  8. Hello all What oil pressure ought I to be seeing in general use please? It seems to fluctuate from almost nothing to around 3 bar and certainly never over 4 bar at speed? Is this normal? I checked the dip stick and the oil, supposedly being new, just 60 miles or so ago, shows colourless (a bit worrying to my thinking)but when wiped, shows a trace! I'm not sure what oil should be in, but the handbook indicates Shell Helix Ultra AV-L 5W-30. I don't want to be too paranoid about it, just concerned. Arthur
  9. Nothing has happened to the originals, I want a complete unit for a new project.
  10. Sorry should have said...doubt they have anything "on the shelf"
  11. Hi all This one is a long shot...where can I get new, a complete Suzuki K6A engine and gearbox complete with all ancillaries? Obviously, I've not tried Caterham yet, but will, but doubt they anything "on the shelf". Any ideas anyone? Arthur

  14. Thanks all. Will definitely look at the Demon Tweeks mirrors, they seem simple. I'm spoilt for mirrors on my VW Transporter and wouldn't be without them, plus when I did an HGV 1 yonks back, side mirrors are/were invaluable. It astounds me when I see people driving these days with their mirrors folded in...presumably as they are scared of damaging them...the same people can't judge gaps to drive though with all their squeaking internal devices showing them how to be better drivers! Back in the early 70s my instructor always said use your mirrors as a cat uses its whiskers...it all works. I just think, 39thou to a mm, so a few mm either side, gets me through a gap..slight joke of course, but why do big SUVs (often driven by women) need the whole road, when a 6ft gap will allow your 5ft 6" car through...you can tell I'm a grumpy old mid 60s git!
  15. Is this a provocative idea...or are caterham on the case already? I had a fascinating chat this afternoon with Gerry at Swindon Powertrain, and now know a lot more about EV motors/gearboxes/inverters etc, all very fascinating and seemingly not as expensive as I thought on the mechanical side, however it is battery cost that is the bugbear, which of course means overall range. Clearly in the next few years the costs will tumble. One assumes that Caterham must be on the case, any ideas anyone? I'm thinking about electric three wheelers.
  16. Thanks chaps, what a marvellous set of responses. Ah, one more quick thing...the mirrors are attached to the side screens of course, and I've not checked other cars/photos etc, but which types of mirror do others fit, and to where (the windscreen support?) for when driving without the side screens? regards Arthur
  17. Hi all This is my first post. I've just bought a 3000 mile 160 model with the Suzuki engine, marvellous machine for an old codger of 65! I'd really like to get hold of an original build manual if possible, purely for interest. Any ideas please? Was it online or a hard copy, and if anyone has one, I'll gladly purchase it. Out of interest, I first went for a spin in a Seven in 1976, I was 21 and much slimmer of course, Graham Nearn took me for a spin in his Holbay engined demo car...I couldn't afford one at the time! Another request, if I may, having just joined, I'm awaiting first copy of Low Flying, are back issues available, particularly with articles on the 160? Any ideas as to how many 160s were built? I recall the engine/gearbox from 25 years ago in a Cuppucino we had. Arthur
