Finished fitting my Brooklands screens & went for my first Brooklands blat yesterday, what a difference, no more buffeteing, comfortable drive at 100 mph; it's like having a different car. Thanks for all the advice, my only regret is that I didn't go over to Brooklands sooner.
James. *biggrin*
Thanks to all for your advice, I've got the day off tomorrow so if you hear a great deal of swearing coming from the direction of Torquay, you will know what I'm doing.
James.
I have at last taken delivery of the stanchion for my Brooklands screens. (now the summers over) Can anyone advise me as regards fitting it all together and also where I might buy suitable mirrors.
James.
Thank you Miles & Phil for your advice, you make it sound like the only way to travel.

Does anyone run their car with Brooklyn screens 🤔 I'm trying to get hold of a pair plus stanchion (Caterham havn't got any) How does the driving experience differ from a full screen without side screens 🤔
James.
Thanks for all your helpful comments; spoke to Gary today so watch this space.
James.
By the way, been off the air for a couple of years (bought a pub) used user name 'boasies' (1.6 VX Blydenstein) nice to be back even if I am a novice again.
James.
Nick, thanks for that, you have more or less answered my question, where I live in Torquay the roads are B awful & I'm running Bilstein at the moment. Can't adjust them.
Also, can tyres make a difference 🤔
Thanks again,
James.
I have a live axle car & would like to improve the ride. Gary at Freestyle does a mod using spax shocks, anyone have personal experience of this mod 🤔
James.
Thanks Henry, Jason, I made the mistake of buying a pub and thinking I could still use the 7. Been sitting in the garage looking sad for the last six mths, somebody should be enjoying her.
James.
Henry, Chas, talk to BB about what he regards as the ultimate head for the 1.6 VX before going the bore out route. He did mention it to me at the beginning of the year, I think it was off a 2ltr car and I think he had already worked his magic on it at the time we spoke. The impression I got was that it would give as big a gain in power over and above what we already have from his work (about another 10 bhp)
James.
Hi Chas,
I keep moaning about not having the time to drive C7 SSJ but the reason is that I'm so busy with the pub, so shouldn't complain.
Have moved the bar and opened up a huge inglenook fire place that was hidden behind the old bar; looks great, burns really well and the locals have given it the thumbs up.
Best of luck with your plans for the engine; let me know how it goes.
Cheers, James.
Hi Chas, been off the air for some time (since buying the pub) so havn't been keeping up with blat chat. It's great to hear that there is so much interest in the conversion.
James.
The cam fitted by Caterham is the AST 14 and was the one I was supposed to fit to my 1.6 classic; I ordered the 15 by mistake & then thought what the hell & fitted it anyway. The results were great so Henry and Chas followed suite.
James.
Henry and Chas, if when you start hitting high revs, 6500 to 7000k, you lose coolant out of expansion tank cap, then let me know. It happened to me and I think I've solved it.
James.
