  1. Steve. No problem at all. Glad to hear it’s not just me! I haven’t had time to get inside the pedal box today but from memory the clutch and brake pedals are not interchangeable as the former has a bracket on it. Happy to be corrected if this isn’t the case!
  2. Mine pictured above - sorry about the orientation. As per Steves, it appears as the brake pedal is too far right. David.
  3. Jonathan - what a great link and excellent read. :)
  4. Thanks for all this info. Mine is currently as you describe Steve. All the others I have driven were fine. I’ll get a photo tomorrow to add. But it feels like the brake pedal is too far right even with the rubber removed.
  5. Thanks - that's very different to my setup - will go back to the car tomorrow and compare... David.
  6. As Scotland is now wall to wall mud / salt or both I'm tinkering on my 7 in the garage. Its an S3 and having only driven it 100 miles since picking it up from the chap that built it I've had some problems with pedal spacing. I had driven a 310R, 420R and R300 SLR (all s3) prior to purchase and although the pedal box was snug I had no issues with the pedal spacing with the trainers I had on. My car seems to have the throttle and brake so close together that I had to dig out my old race boots to be able to press the brake independently of the throttle... I have had an initial fiddle, lowering the throttle position position which has improved matters somewhat but compared to the other cars I have driven the spacing seems too close. I wonder if anyone had a photo of their pedals for reference so I can see if I need to bend the brake pedal or throttle to make it useable. I'm not sure if its a lateral clearance issue or depth issue so would appreciate some images prior to adjustment again. Thanks. David.
  7. Hey. As above. I’m looking for the Bosch part number for OEM r400 / 420r black injectors. Can anyone help. I managed to get the p/n of my blue injectors by photographing them with the flash on from the front of the car. Thanks.
  8. Of course, thanks! I use this site all the time for my VW / Audi / Skoda repairs... David.
  9. Does anyone have a link to the duratec workshop manuals? Specifically, I'm looking to swap my camshafts with the engine in situ. I have found most of the info I need but camshaft cap torque sequence evades me. Thanks David.
  10. Thanks for the pointers. I spoke to Raceline who can supply the OEM cams most cost effectively and SBD the ECU. As I researched it all I’m now leaning towards a DIY cam install and timing. Has anyone done this who can offer any advice? I have found numerous resources re cam cap tightening / loosening sequence, valve clearances, cam follower replacement and timing the cams with a dial gauge and timing wheel. Any practical additional pointers? David.
  11. I have been looking into upgrading my 2016 mexican 180 duratec to the 210 specification. Apologies if this has been covered before - a search was informative but didn't address this issue so far as I could see. There are a couple of options. As I'm up in Scotland the usual route of going to the two steve's is more difficult... Caterham do the kit for £2300 fitted but I see that my engine already has the upgraded valve springs and blue injectors. Having spoken to our local dealer they have reduced the price as all I need is the cams and reflashed ECU. However, whilst getting my daily driver MOT'd I was speaking to the garage owner who has built several duratecs and he suggested I speak to SBD motorsport. They can provide equivalent cams with vernier pulleys and a new, unlocked ECU with a "210bhp" basemap. It would just require my local garage to fit and time the cams. The advantages of this option seem to be that SBDs basemap is reputedly better than the generic caterham one, it changes the car to throttle position sensor metering which again is reportedly a big improvement in relation to the duratec "lag" and finally allows me to go to my local rolling road to fine tune the map without having to travel to the south of England... The SBD option seems sensible as it's a similar cost - can anyone see any disadvantage with my logic? My engine is not under warranty - so this is not relevant. David.
  12. Thanks. I managed to get a riviera blue 7 a fortnight ago so, for now, my searching is done and upgrades begin..
  13. Just to wish you good luck with the build completion and IVA. I have been watching the build with interest on your instagram feed - great progress! I'm just along the road in Angus and hoping to pick up a 360R later this week - plan is to keep it for 6 months or so then order my own kit once I have lived with the spec for a while. David.
  14. I'm not sure this is technically tech chat, but anyway... I read somewhere of a good place to get OEM style stripes for our cars and despite searching back I can't find it. I should be getting my new 7 next week and I'm keen to add a black triple stripe and the side graphics. Would someone be kind enough to advise if high quality OEM spec ones can be had from anywhere other than caterham themselves? Thanks David.
  15. If anyone is keen to sell I am looking for a new car. S3 R400 Duratec Ideally in a bright colour to keep my wife happy that "such a small car can be seen" I have been looking at, and due to see a couple of cars but if you are thinking of selling one I'm up for an easy transaction. Thanks David.
