  1. I agree the orientation won't make any difference, everything else being equal. Helper springs go on the top, but they are much weaker than the light end of a progressive spring. Fwiw there has been quite a lot of discussion about spring rates and dampers on the Caterham 21 Register Facebook page that you might find useful. I changed mine this winter to 250f/200r (linear) on the already-fitted AVO shocks which made a massive difference, if you like a sporty ride.
  2. If you have the single-pin, 4-pot caliper shown at the top of Jochen's post, the correct pad shape is as follows: Mintex: MDB1864 PFC Brakes: 7745 Alcon: 4463 H-Type Caliper Pagid Racing: E2127 Ferodo: FRP219 Hawk: HB192 Raybestos: DR804 AP Racing Pad: CP3345 SBS: 3059 Wilwood: 8716 It seems a lot of people fit the MDB1200 shape pads into these calipers, which as noted above do fit but don't cover the pistons properly. This is likely to lead to stuck pistons, and is not recommended by AP's technical people.
  3. I've never finished a run at Curseborough... fingers crossed for the engine.
  4. Finally the organisers have seen the light "The Executive Committee of l’Association de la Montée Historique de Laon regrets to inform you that the 29th Circuit Historique scheduled for 30, 31 Mai and 1st June 2020 has been cancelled." "The event is postponed to next year, and will take place on 22, 23 and 24 May 2021, which should have been the date of our 30th Circuit Historique de Laon."
  5. Yesterday France announced a raft of new restrictions on travel and leisure. Even joggers have to remain less than 1000m from their home. https://www.rt.com/news/483893-france-ban-jogging-coronavirus/ In light of this, the new statement on the Laon website looks more than delusional: "Following the progression of Covid-19 and the measures put in place by the French government, on 15th April 2020 at the latest we will be able to confirm whether our event will go ahead or reschedule." The 15th April is too late, a decision needs to be made THIS WEEK!
  6. If you find the actual pressure is still unacceptably low after a calibration check, call us for help www.classic-oils.net 01869-227062
  7. Sir Patrick Vallance, the UK’s chief scientific officer, warned last week that the peak of the virus is expected to be 10-14 weeks away - ie exactly over the dates for Laon. France has already closed all restaurants and cafes, and Germany (where we are planning to go after Laon) has closed its border with France over the weekend. IMO there is no way it can go ahead. I'm writing this from Melbourne where I travelled for no reason because people were slow to face reality, so forgive me if I sound a little terse.
  8. Anyone else wondering if it's sensible to pay the balance for this tour? No refunds it seems if you self-isolate, even on government instructions...

    Digital dash

We're just fitting one of these brand new digital dashes into a later Lotus - very impressive and plug-and-play. I'd love one in my car https://garw.co/products/garw-ic7

Also try Mick Belton - very helpful and has fasteners no one else can get!
