  1. A few MOT's through and the "mist" on the diff is now apparently a leak.... The DIff is Type 9,5 speed heavy duty long 1st - Diff 3.92:1 fitted with ZF plate type LSD. (notes from the previous owner) Apparently, there are two types of bearing, one crushes (didn't understand that) and i need to change the flange/seal to stop the leak. can any advise who to speak to to get this fixed/ assessed
  2. Hi All, On Cold Startup my water temperature gauge climbs up to 120 and sits there for a good few minutes and only seems to drop back down to running temp after a blast up to about 70/80 - ( if i don't go above 30/40 it can sit at that reading for longer) After running for 10 minutes it's always at normal running temperature. The other day i did find some coolant around the rad and on the chassis below. could not locate a leak or weap. Could it really be running that hot or is it just a faulty sensor or wiring? if so it's a Duratec engine - which parts do i need? many many thanks
  3. Hi all, Previous owner of my 7 has the wiring installed for an intercom I just need headsets. The connections are old 5 pin style connections and leads. Charlie

  5. Hi All, I have recently resprayed and lost graphics for a Duratec R - the guys who made it originally couldn't possibly be less helpful - all I'm trying to find out is which fonts are used to replicate the graphics. I believe the Duratec is the same font as SUPERLIGHT and I have no idea about the R. Any help would be greatly appreciated! Many thanks, Charlie
  6. Hi All, I need to change my brake fluid and the notes from the previous owner and builder were to use DOT5 on AP racing 4 pot on the front and standard Caterham on the back. Finding DOT 5 has been difficult and also the colour of the brake fluid at the moment is yellow... I believe DOT 5 is purple and shouldn't be mixed... Do I need DOT 5? if not what grade should I use instead? many thanks, Charlie
  7. Many thanks all. (yes Tom - I have exactly that issue) We are juggling all sorts of ideas, I'm trying to avoid snipping the bonnet or fiberglassing the nose cone to move the ridge 5mil. Both seem fairly drastic to solve what is a very small cosmetic issue, but being at 98% perfect is really frustrating! I will definitely investigate the silicon/sealant option
  8. Hi All, I have recently had a full respray and almost immediately rubbing between the nose cone and bonnet has removed paint on the corners. Are there any good methods to prevent this? There is a good 5 mil play in the nose cone so I guess this will always happen unless the play is reduced. I have looked at shortening bonnet circa 5 mil. paint protection film down the seam between the two moving parts... but i imagine that will eventually wear through. Can the clips in the nose cone be upgraded? my 7 is 2005 I'm unsure what they have been replaced with on new 7's? Any help would be greatly appreciated Best, Charlie

  10. Hi All, I'm struggling to find out anything from the guys who built the engine in my 7. It's all pretty basic stuff but i don't know the answers to the following questions. 1. Emptying the Cosworth Dry Sump. a couple of average attempts with much black oil left, is there a trick to this? What is the best method? 2. Preferred oil and preferred filter? 3. AP racing hydraulic race clutch fitted and extremely long pedal travel - 1st becoming notchy. if this is the best clutch to replace with a like for like. 4. New thermostat needed - temperature readings a bit too variable and over 100 degrees on startup - normally cools down to 90 odd after 5 minutes If anyone knows any of the answers to these I would be most appreciative. best Charlie
  11. The notes from my previous owner say the above is the fitted clutch to a 2007 2.3 Duratec R ( built by raceline- can't get anything out of them) First has become hard to engage, especially from cold, pressing the gear lever to the ga e of 1sr actually moves the car slightly without engaging the gear. Using most of the 'tall first' can make it extremely difficult to select second. Apart form that the clutch seems to work absolutely fine. Much much better when everything is at temperature. If replacing does anyone know if there is a better alternative part available or of if the existing part is available and the best option? Best Charlie
  12. Hi all, I'm looking for clear tape to protect the body from the bonnet, so roughly the same width as a roll of generic packing tape but for a paintwork application. I have areas of the car that have protective clear film but can't seem to find anything to replicate Any suggestions would be great. Many thanks
  13. thanks for the info, what has actually snapped is the simple high tensile bolt through the top of the joint the holds that arm. I'm just going to replace with a higher tensile bolt if possible to get over 10.9 many thanks charlie
  14. Hi All, My 7 has an inline /inboard front suspension, I believe an aftermarket version to resemble the CSR. Both of the bolts have sheared off inside the linkage of the dampers. ( gold aluminum joint ) Any idea who makes these kits and where I can aim a question on what bolts to replace as I don't believe any bolts are metric. 2005 SV Series 5 Many thanks Charlie
  15. Many thanks all will do some research!
  16. driving through the Pyrenees with three bikers in August and they have a Cardo JBL Bluetooth kit that allows for links. Does anyone have a suggestion for a Bluetooth headset that is not only for a bike helmet many thanks charlie
  17. Hi All, I'm just looking for advice on the best oil for the above engine. 2005 built. It's been on 10/40 but i have been told that 10/60 would be best. 90% road use. any help would be appreciated. Cheers Charlie
  18. looking for a pair of bonnet side grills for an SV. Many thanks Charlie
  19. Hi All, I have an exhaust system made by Raceline and the 4-2 part has become very tired with a small blow that has blacked on of the joins. Has anyone had a good experience with a ceramic coating of exhaust and if so who would you go to? any idea of a cost? many thanks Charlie
