  1. Thanks John, appreciate the view :)
  2. Thanks Jonathan, so you think longline Comma one will be ok? Just have some to hand. Cheers
  3. Hi, anyone know if Comma super longline red is OK for Duratec (SupersportR 210). Book says comma x-stream Red. But both OAT and think Ethelyne Glycol? Thanks PS looks like i created a few of these posts, apologies and not sure if i can delete them
  4. Yes that's what I mean thanks :) I did try that, without success
  5. @ecr it's the same hose that was on, but really tough to replace. Originally it was widened to take the dip stick holder.
  6. Hi, had a sump repair and now re fitted, thanks to one of the guides. Needed to replace the dip stick hose as damaged in removing. What the best way to expand the hose to fit dip stick holder please? Guess there is an easy way and you guys will know. Thanks
  7. Hi, Need to replace damaged far-side headlight bracket. Does anyone have any advice on how to approach this and the least stripdown i can get away with? I think the front ARB needs to come off to enable retaining upper wishbone bolt to come free... but not sure beyond that? Wiring is all disconected, just need to physically remove the bracket. 2014 Supersport R (210) Duratec. Thanks Chris
  8. Hi All thanks for the responses. John - will look at the CSR260 build manual in the future, thats more detail than the 2014 general manual i have. Geoff - absolutely, it wasn't an easy job and used a push-bike torque wrench which helped for the 20Nm bits. The build manual instructs to take off the starter and alternator when fitting engine, so would have thought they would give you the settings to refit :) Haynes is probably a good shout as well if stuck in the future
  9. Hi All, Is there a guide with most common torque settings? The build manual has some, but doesn't seem comprehensive. There is a guide "Bolt list" where the description says torque settings, but nope. The job at hand is Duratec alternator brackets to block and alternator to brackets? Help on this at least would be appreciated :) Thanks, Chris
  10. Thanks Geof, the alternator has no code on it at all. I only found the code through other re-sellers.
  11. ok, found it: Edge lightweight alternator 40A LH mounting CM550L :)
  12. Hi, I want to locate a part for my alternator (rectifier), anyone know what the Caterham alternator is, as in make and model. Link here: https://caterhamparts.co.uk/alternators/4751-alternator-rhd-duratec-1-o-clock.html dont seem to be any identifying marks for manafacturer and model? Thanks, Chris
  13. Thanks Doctor, yep, my car boiled and stopped me. Someone happened to have right size spare belt to take alternator out of the equation, which got me home with some battery swapping. Did he go for same parts again from Caterham? Just trying to work out if the aluminum parts are problematic? But seems not if you are the only one with same issue (only 38 reads, its not conclusive :))
  14. Hi, has anyone experienced problems with the Caterham alternator brackets snapping? Both the upper and lower brackets have completely broken. There was a place called "Applecross", so the car did get some good use on not the smoothest roads. The replacement costs are extreme for a small bit of cast/milled aluminum £80 + £55 ish. Any alternatives, have i just had bad luck? Thanks, Chris
  15. Thanks both. I have located and exposed all fixing points. Caterahm helped with a quick phone call. There are four bosses on each side at lower part of the cage. From left to right: 1. located in chassis rail 2. Located under chassis rail. 3 and 4 Inside chassis rail, but not visible from inside with skin removed as there is an additional plate over the rail and Caterham say they are blanked off on the inside. Now to fit the cage one night this week. Still need to remove rear springs an not done this before, so further investigation needed... believe its straight forward (famous last word, I know). I'm enjoying the learning though :)
  16. Yes, you would think 2014 car would have them as standard. I don't feel they will be through the rail as nothing visible on the inner side. Will call Caterham in the morning as they insisted they were present, before I bought the cage. Thanks again, Chris
  17. Thanks for the help... have found the mounts that line up with the sliding plate, there are also two mounting points just under the scuttle. These are not visible on the inner side, so guess and hope they are there on the outer of the frame, but under the skin.... otherwise are you supposed to drill and tap these yourself? https://photos.app.goo.gl/aiCCdLtiNZ3m9sk96
  18. its this one: https://caterhamparts.co.uk/rollcages/3689-rollcage-assy-lhd-a-rhd-r400-race.html?search_query=rollcaGE&results=25 So new version, but not sure what you mean by sliding front plates? I do need to find mounting points through the side skin
  19. Hi, just starting to fit the SLR rollcage and need to drill out the panels to find the welded in threaded bushes to take the forward three bolts. Any advice please on best way to do this? Thanks, Chris
  20. Just wanted to comment that the long lap belts problem is now resolved. It seems Luke do a shorter version for lowered floors. Corbeau Seats sorted this out for me by replacing the webbing on lap belts and I also took the opportunity to order Crutch Straps with a Moustache Tang (better or the delicate parts). Turned around in less than a a week for less than £55 all in. Brilliant service from Nick at Corbeau.
  21. Thanks Steve, much appreciated, I have similar in my manual, but doesn't explain the extra threaded hole. Wondering if previous owner/builder modified the chassis with more forward bushes for some reason. Cheers
  22. Hi gulf, behind the hole in carpet there is a threaded hole in mine, set further back from the mounting point being used. Though nothing visible on the other side (outside edge). Simple solution without cutting holes is shorten straps. Don't know how previous owner managed to get a good fit, even if they were a rather large person. I should have mentioned, but mine is S3 2014.
