  4. Thanks gents, Chris has come up trumps again, After almost a year of looking I bought one off redline this morning. Really pleased!
  5. Thanks gents, and for the messages alerting me to the ebay item, From all the images i’ve studied whilst restoring mine I’m also of the opinion that the super 7 sprint rockers were more common to the 1600’s and the 1700 super sprint rockers were fitted to “what it says on the tin!” I will keep look for that elusive 1700 super sprint rocker that mine would of had originally. Thanks again for the heads up, fingers crossed one will surface eventually!
  6. I’m still looking, if anyone has got one tucked away that they would like to sell please get in touch. Thanks
  7. I'm looking for an original 1700 Supersprint rocker cover to replace the non-standard one on my car. If anyones got one that they are looking to sell please get in touch. Thanks, Dave
  8. I've updated the original post again as some very nice chaps have sorted me out with tyres, rear lights, a grill and some other bits and bobs. Im starting to feel like I'm on the home run now, I've held off dropping off a small crate of parts for shot blast and powder coat incase anyones got a FIA stye imperial live axle roll bar or one with a cross brace, incase a scruffy one turns up that would benefit from a visit to the powder coaters. Let me know if you have any bits that you are looking to sell, I don't think its going to be too long until I place an order with redline for the final bits and get the old girl back on the road, cant wait!
  9. Thanks chaps, I've updated the original post as I've sourced some headlights, A grill and found the original badge that I was after. I have a growing pile of parts to take for shotblast and powder coat over the next two weeks then hopefully I can get her down from the axle stands and back on her wheels, tyres permitting! Thanks again Dave
  10. With the help and support of some great folk here I’ve been slowly restoring my 1988 Supersprint (imperial long cockpit chassis) back to its original condition. The parts sourced on here and pointers in the right direction have helped massively towards getting the old girl back on the road, later this year with any luck. The used parts I’m still looking to source include: A roll bar with a cross brace as the current unbraced skinny one fitted looks a bit optimistic. A pair of front cycle wings Pair of headlight brackets An original style heater as no doubt it will be winter by the time I get her back on the road A full hood as my 30 year old one has shrunk and gone brittle A full carpet set A supersprint rocker cover to replace the polished alloy one there currently A pair of 4 point harnesses An exhaust heat shield A gear lever rubber gaiter I’m located in Leamington Spa but will happily cover postage costs if folk have got any of these bits tucked away further afield Many thanks, Can't wait to get the old girl back on the road! Dave
  11. Marvelous, I edited the post to space the pictures out a little for clarity, thought it best not to post “touching pics”...
  12. Thanks for the science bit, here’s some pics of surfex hd sprayed on neat to a mixture of oil waxoil crud etc on my restoration project. Between the 2nd and third pics I sponged off the grime with a damp sponge. First time Ive uploaded pics so hopefully that works!
  13. I’ve just removed almost 30 years of grime from my supersprint using Bilthamber surfex HD. It’s confusingly impressive as it removes grease like pure alcohol does yet it’s water based therefore in my mind i had previously dismissed it. Great at removing sticky label residue and rescuing oily clothes. Worth looking in to
  14. Hi, I’ve PM,d you his number Cheers, Dave
  15. Hello, I’m after the following bits for my 1.7 crossflow 1988 supersprint, if anyones got the following bits lurking in their garage/ loft/ kitchen! that they would like to sell then please get in touch: Radiator Silicone top and bottom radiator hoses An original Supersprint rockercover A complete heater box from the era A suitable side exit silencer A pair of rear radius arms Front cycle wings Tyres, its got some 185/70 13s currently but Im not too fussy as its predominantly used for commuting. I appreciate theres some fantastic sources for some of these as new parts, but wanted to exhaust the second hand route first. (no exhaust pun intended!) Im based in Warwickshire/Leicestershire but happy to pay the postage if not local. Many thanks Dave
  16. Whilst looking for a replacement tank for my crossflow engined car I was kindly offered an unused injection tank for a K series (injected car) Keen to get the car up and running I was about to make a blanking plate and pick up pipe to replace the hole where the rover derived in-tank fuel pump unit goes when I thought to check what rover/mg did on the diesel version of cars that used this style of tank sender flange. £10 later I picked up a rover/mg 200/25 diesel tank sender unit (as the diesel cars don't have an in-tank pump but do have the same flange. With a trim and a tweak of the pick up pipe to get it into the notched cut out into the baffle plate bottom corner and removal of the rover level sensor it works a treat. I needed to blank the injection return line and fit a reducer elbow for the filler neck but it seems to work well and passed the low tank level roundabout surge test! So if anyone strangely finds themselves with an injected cars tank and wants to fit it to a carbed car, take a look at a rover 25 diesel tank sender unit. Or put your hand in your pocket and buy the correct tank in the first place from somewhere other than Caterham who no-longer stock them!
  17. Hi Paul, That's a very kind offer indeed, I have been offered a few sets but I'm holding out for a lower millage set of springs/dampers closer to home in the midlands ideally. Im also still looking for live axle radius arms if anyone has a pair tucked away Great to see the charitable efforts made on this site. All the best, Dave.
  18. Hi Steve, I placed a wanted add on the Facebook Caterham marketplace page and a few folk got in touch, I got a spotless unused 10+ year old tank in the end.
  19. Hi, I'm after a set of springs and dampers for my imperial 1988 supersprint. Also a pair of radius arms for an ital live axle if anyones got some lurking. Many thanks Dave
  20. All sorted now with a shinny replacement tank, thanks
  21. The original 30 year old steel tank in my Supersprint restoration project has finally succumbed to rust and deposted it's contents over the garage floor. Has anyone got an aluminium (carburettor) tank that would fit? Would a tank for an injected car do the job if I blanked off the in tank fuel pump hole? could an injected tank return fitting be used as a carbed car fuel feed or is it wishful thinking that the return tube routes to the bottom of the tank beside a baffle?! Thanks, Dave
