Thanks both!

Does anyone have a build manual PDF they would be kind enough to send me for a 2001 K series car. Have removed the radius arms and A frame, powder coated and got new bushes and nuts & bolts etc (great service from Redline BTW). Am going to re-attach and want to make sure I've got all the right torque settings and got the nuts, bolts, washers etc. just so (yes, I know, I should have taken some photos). Also need the correct plug gap (though not sure if this is the same for all k series engines, 1.8k VHPD head, Piper 1144's). I've tried a couple of searches but I must be being thick (I know I've seen one last year for plug gaps but can't as eckers find it)

Thanks John, I did think so. I'm so glad I went to the palaver of removing the seat and discovered it, it was so loose that I can imagine it could have vibrated out over time. There is a "stepped" washer against the body (with the lower step going into the harness brackets central hole) and on the outter side a flat washer. What's a crinkle washer?

Took my seat out today I was struggling to get to the fuel filter bolts, so seemed like a good time to free up the jammed runners so SWMBO can more easily adjust and drive. Anyways, both lap belt bolts to the body on the driver's side we literally just finger tight which concerned me somewhat. But before I put it all back together again and fully tighten, just wanted to check, they are meant to be tight yeah?? May sound like a draft question, but thought I'd ask to be safe and sure.

Thanks all

Ta, I'll sort that, and guessing the reverse for a new install?
-
Thanks again for your help though Ian. I suspect I'll be asking more questions as today I have fairly randomly taken bits off the car (I find I learn best by just doing) and at some point I'll have to put it all back together again by which time I will have forgotten how it all came off (and no, I'm not bright or organised enough to make any notes or take pics which is what anyone with an ounce of common sense would do ha ha)

Brill, thanks SM, I'll get that order and then all my winter fettling parts are sorted
-
No, but I can get one to double check. I have found a WK 612/2 on the online parts website as a fuel filter so I suspect that's the one but I'll post a pic in the morning to be sure. Cheers Ian

Fortunately though, as ever Blatchat comes to the rescue with answers so arguably the search isn't needed, but that's not the point

It's really frustrating. Done 3 searches today before posting, for changing a de Dion bush, diff oil and k series fuel filter part number. All resulted in me ultimately posting a question as couldn't find an answer easily

Been searching for the correct fuel filter for a 1.8k 2001 S3. From the archives I've found reference to a Mann 612/2. Been on a parts website and it says the Mann wk 612/2 doesn't fit and MGF (which is what I put in to allow the search) but a Mann 6123 does. Anyone know which is the correct one as the one on my car has no marking/parts numbers on it?

Quick question to the good people of BlatChat. 3.92:1 LSD marked SPC 3892, Ford with Titan internals, don't know what diff oil is in it, is there a universal LSD oil I can put in to top up? Also, it it like the box where you fill it until it comes out of the fill hole? Ta's in advance.

I have similarly this morning removed the trailing arms and a frame to get it powdercoated and new bushes. I wasn't going to remove the De Dion, rather just check and tidy it in place. I have however now realised (as I tend to start a job and work it out as I go) that there is a bush in the De Dion (I had assumed it would be in the points of the a frame). Can the De Dion bush be replaced in situ or does it need to come out (I am avoiding as I am very tight for space)

Phil, recently had my 1.8k, VHPD with Piper 1144 (I think), 42mm DTH jenveys, cream injectors and newly fitted sausage filter on the road and got 219. Was beginning to run out of fuel so limiter set at 7.6 and I may do something about it at some stage. The chap mapping it believed it likely to be the standard fuel pump being the limiting factor and probably (though a degree of speculation from him and utter guess work from me) not the injectors. Have been advised re upgraded fuel pump which I may get round to but for now I'll fettle away on other things getting ready for the warmer weather
-
Perfect, thanks! Was it tricky to fit, or pop one out and a new one in? (I appreciate few things are so simple on our special little cars)
-
Until recently had an airbox so guess that would control airflow some, but now set so as not to run lean with sausage filter and the chap in the emerald PC was happy that at the set up and not trying too hard to eek out more power, would be fuelled properly. I'll probably change the pump as the ones I've seen weren't massive money so good to have as covering all bases
-
That would be great Si. Mine ended up with a peak at 7.4 on account of fuelling and believe my cams (1444 should be good to 8). That said, I believe I too am standard crank so not too worried and dropped the rev limiter from 8.2 to 7.6 as part of the remap. Would be interested in the options even if I choose to stay as is.

I had my first experience of a mapping session in Friday. I came out with 219bhp and 171lb ft from my 1.8k, which was about 5 up in both. Done at Motorscope Northallerton by Richard who was seemingly excellent and I learned an awful lot. The limiting factor now appears to be the fuel pump which wasn't delivering enough to the injectors to go any further so set as it was until (if) I do something about it. The noticeable difference though in driving there to driving home was massive, with the car being utterly smooth as silk on my return, though as it was cold and greasy, didn't do much exploring in upper rev ranges. Highly recommended. Per Les's comment, long live the K!

Not sure if you've seen it, but Fatal3rror on here had one for sale, not sure if that's still available
