  1. Hi '7 Wonders of the World': For the whole unit (flywheel, clutch plate and cover plate), I'd accept £400, or near that number. The items are priced (new) on the Caterham website as follows: Clutch plate: £308; Clutch cover plate: £115; Lightweight flywheel: £493 and they're in very good condition. Best, Charlie
  2. Hi Julian, Yes, Stuart at Premier managed the repair of my car when I had my 'incident' at Coventry earlier this year and offered me an upgrade of the flywheel while the engine was out. It has made a big difference in terms of throttle responsiveness and precision. Although I have yet to properly explore it on a track, there are (positive) implications in terms of cornering and the engine feels a lot more responsive and 'sporty' after the upgrade. The lighter flywheel needs a different clutch which is sharper and has a shorter travel, making ot more precise, facilitating quicker gear shifts. It also means that it's less comfortable in traffic/city driving which is a downside. I had the original clutch servo which made it very heavy, but that has been improved by fitting a smaller clutch servo (approx £80). I believe that Stuart is now using the smaller servo as standard but you may want to check with him. Whether I'd recommend it or not depends on what you primarily want to use the car for. If you are competing or primarily using your Caterham for track days and care about performance, then yes, it's worth it. However, if your car is mainly for road use, then you may not find the changes to your liking nor the upgrade good value for money (Premier Power is all about performance after all). I'm happy I did it though, if that means anything. Hope that's helpful. Best, Charlie
  3. A pair of rear spring/damper assemblies available. Fitted as standard on an 310R, bought new in 2017 and swopped out for an upgrade in the summer. They have seen approx 4,000 miles, mainly on roads, so in good condition. They are in Kingston Upon Thames (SW London). Happy to accept a reasonable offer. Caterham part: 75531ASL (https://caterhamparts.co.uk/dampers/675-rear-springdamper-assembly-2003-onwards.html?search_query=75531&results=3)
  4. I had an even lighter-weight version of both fitted as part of a repair/re-build this summer.
  5. Due to an upgrade, I have a lightweight flywheel and clutch plate for a 1.6 Sigma engine available for sale. Both are in very good condition, having had approx 4,000 miles of mostly road use over the 2 years since the car was bought new from Caterham (in 2017). Weighing 4.48kg, the lightweight flywheel offers a 2.72kg weight saving over the standard Sigma TA flywheel and retails new for £492.96 (including VAT) on Caterham's website. It also offers faster throttle response and a more sporty feel to the engine. Happy to sell together or separately, depending on demand. I am based in Kingston Upon Thames (SW London). DM me if you are interested.
  6. I'm interested in a carbon aeroscreen for an SV. Can you give me some more details please?
  7. Do you still need off-cuts? I have some left-over interior carpet which I removed recently from my car. Let me know if you want it and I will measure/photograph, etc.
  8. Hi Justin, Yes, I'm OK thanks although - as you say - pretty shaken by the whole experience. The force of the impact bent the entire chassis but when the front end was cut off last week, the remainder of the chassis pinged back into shape (luckily). Lots of work to be done to get in roadworthy again though. The car is in full 'fix' mode which means I will miss Epynt and Aintree but should be back for Loton and Castle Combe. Fine for you to reference my mishap in your report. Infamy rather than fame, but it hasn't put me off. All the best, Charlie
  9. It was good day for Justin, competition-wise, so a good choice. It was a bad day for me (departing on, and in, a recovery truck) so if you want the full gamit of experience of the day, I'd be happy to contribute. It may even serve as useful therapy ...
  10. I spoke with Manfrotto today and have opted for one of their Super Clamps along with an adaptor/connector and a single ball joint (less bulky and expensive than the double ball option recommended in the post accessed through Jonathan's link). This was the combination recommended by the folks at Manfrotto and I will give that a go on the car when it arrives. It's a BIG price difference vs the eBay option but there were enough negative reviews (not to mention Stu's) for me to opt for the equality option to be safe. Thanks for the tip on the upside-down fitting, Richard. Any chance you could send a photo?
  11. OK. I have purchased a refurbished Gopro Hero4 Black (thanks again Richard) - I now need to buy some sort of clamp or other fixing to secure it on the roll cage. Jonathan, I have been through a number of old threads through your link and on Blatchat but none answer my question of how best to secure such a camera. Any suggestions gratefully received!
  12. Hi Richard, Thanks so much for the immensely helpful advice. I will get on Amazon this evening! Sorry not to have met up at Goodwood, but hopefully will see you at one of the future Sprint events. Best, Charlie
  13. Having enjoyed Goodwood hugely on Saturday, as well as finding the videos posted after the event very helpful, I have decided that a camera mounted on the roll bar would be a useful addition to help me improve. Can someone please suggest a good camera and mount combination? Go pro seems to be the go to option but is one better than another? Getting a secure mount would also be important. I had considered a data logging system (with cameras) but I think that is probably overkill considering my level of experience/skill.

    Torque Wrench

Thanks everyone. Very helpful. Have downloaded and printed off the voucher and will use tomorrow. Charlie

    Torque Wrench

I thought I had posted a response yesterday but it doesn't seem to show up on the thread. Sorry for the delay in getting back to you on this. Anyway, huge thanks all for your comments, advice and helpful suggestions. I will go along to Goodwood on Saturday and borrow both ideas and tools to inform my subsequent purchase. Can someone tell me how I redeem my 10% discount at Halfords - is it as simple as showing my club membership card?

    Torque Wrench

Competing for the first time in the Speed Championship this year, I have been advised to buy a torque wrench to check the tightness of wheel nuts. Could someone please advise on a good choice/type to go for? Naturally, Amazon has thousands and I am not sure what is needed and what is not. I will be driving to events so I need one that is as small and light as possible. Many thanks, in advance.
  17. Hi, not sorted yet, although I am in touch with Andrew (see previous post). I am planing on giving it a go over the weekend. Are you able to help? Best wishes, Charlie
  18. Hello everyone. I have bought a petty strut in order to take part in my first Speed event next weekend at Curborough and I am looking for help in fitting it. I am based in Kingston (SW London). Is there anyone nearby(ish) who is willing to give me the benefit of their experience or can guide me to a useful guide/resource? Many thanks in advance, Charlie
  19. Hi, Is this still available?
  20. I'm looking for a shower cap (temporary waterproof cockpit cover) for my S5. I believe these were manufactured by Soft Bits for Sevens in the past but I can't see any reference to them on their website. Any guidance on where to find them would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, Charlie
