  1. Morning all,

I was wondering if anyone has had similar damage to their leading edge cycle wings as I have in the photos and what the cause was and the remedy?

I suspect it may be because the ZZRs are marginally larger than the tyres that may have been on their previously and possibly the cycle wings are slightly inclined forward. I am thinking of waiting for the friction damage to cease and cutting out the damaged section with a Dremel parallel to the leading edge but above the damage.

If anyone has had a similar experience that they have resolved or has any wisdom they would like to share on the matter I would be most grateful before I end up buying a new set of cycle wings and end up in the same position.

    Suerte amigo.

  3. #27 Gotcha, I didn't think they would be that expensive but I haven't looked. Next suggestion would be one of the thinner nylon chipping boards laminated on a thinner piece of aluminium than the cheque plate. Wood as shock absorption, or the foam wedge mentioned, aluminium for shock distribution and plastic chopping board for glide.

I am also very conscious I am coming up with smart arse ideas from an arm chair sadly 5,000 miles away from my car or I would be doing this.

  4. Looking good James, it would be great if you detail all the parts used once you have the wedge on as I suspect I shall want to add something similar to mine.

  5. James, sadly I am a long way from my car so cannot contribute but I am following this with interest and wanted to let you know I am grateful for the work you have put into this and look forward to a definitive solution, fingers crossed.

  6. Not sure this is actually worthy of a tech talk forum, but last time I was driving at speeds above about 55mph my passenger door deformed and blew into the cabin, that is the rear part entered the car. It appears that there is some deformation of the stiffening in the mid section.

Has anyone else had this problem and what is the solution?

  7. I am looking at this and the Isle of Man event and am a bit torn between the two, given the price of the IOM Steam Racket ferries this will probably be a cheaper option even if you included the helicopter flight and likely better weather too. Nothing quite like heading over the mountain road in the Isle of Man though.

Then again I need to find the time first to do either but it is in the diary.
