Did you get an answer regarding the whirring noise from the back end when you connected the battery.
I've just notice that I have the same thing. This is before the expected noises from the fuel pump priming when you turn the key / immobiliser prior to start up.
I also have the fuel gauge issue see if it works when I top the tank up from the 15L in the AG.
My 310 took 30 seconds cranking before getting 4bar pressure. When I fired it up it was only firing on 1 & 4 as 2&3 plug leads were loose. Just sent the IVA application away.
