    Thinking about it. If the car passed initially an sva test there must be some way of legally getting it past an mot. I built a kit car in the past that used a similar pre 95 engine and was registered in 2014. its like saying all the Beaulieu caterhams are now not road legal? I will try and get a letter from Caterham. Also when the v5 comes back im hoping that the emissions level will be shown on there David

    Hi, I am prepping my car for an MOT which is a 2000 VX chassis ex race car. The car is road registered with documentation but never had its first MOT. Does anyone know what the emission limits are? Is it a visual inspection only? Ive looked at the MOT handbook and the 6th Letter of the Vin is K, 8th X, 9th C and 10th digit Y. The engine is not listed and doesn't seem to fit the exemptions listed https://assets.publishing.service.gov.uk/government/uploads/system/uploads/attachment_data/file/676700/in-service-exhaust-emission-standards-for-road-vehicles-19th-edition.pdf Would this car ever of had a Catalytic converter?     My car has Minilite style wheels on it. its a 1996 k series car. and i really want to change over to the 13" anthracite style ones that were on the R500. failing that a new set of Apollo ones from Caterham. My question is will they fit on my car. I've seen people talk about 6 and 8 inch width ones. Are the rear meant to be wider than the fronts or can they be the same? Apologies if this is a question that has been asked many times before.

    Hi there, My 1996 De Dion with LSD makes a clunking noise when warm. mainly if I'm in traffic on and off the throttle. I was told by Millwood the day after I bought this that it was normal due to no soundproofing etc. and the diff being really close. Does this sound right? Everything else seems tight and not loose thanks David

    Hi, I've got a 1400 Supersport 1996 and was wondering if the car would have any particular identifying stickers when it was made. The care had been re-sprayed when I got it and only had the nosecone badge. TIA David

    I have a windscreen for sale from my car. It is heated and comes complete with the Stanchions and fixings (less the nylocs). There is a small chip which doesn't affect the MOT etc. £275.00 plus postage but you can collect from Newcastle Upon Tyne if preferred. Caterham are currently selling these for £622.00 I have pictures of it on my car which I can email to you if you pm me with address David

    I have just purchase a black one to replace mine. I've got a bare metal one with the matching stanchions and fixing bolts available. It has a small chip in the windscreen but it is road legal and heated. I am based in Newcastle but I can courier it Regards, David

    ive got a 1400ss k series car which is fun but could do with more torque. i was considering doing the mod where the bottom end is replace, injectors updated and original 1400 flywheel used. is it possible to do a straight swap for a full 1800cc unit and plug in an 1800 ecu? will the wiring be compatable? my current system is dry sumped and uses the bell housing oil tank. Will a new bellhousing need to be used if i chose to use a wet sump. i only use the car on the road Thanks David

    Hi Andy (small world - glad to here you still have a seven). ive recently bought a 96 caterham (finally) and my Speedo stopped working properly today. again it will not read over 60 mph. initially the needle was bouncing between 40 and 80. i know im definitely going faster than 60. How did you overcome the problem? David
