  1. Wow - long lead times, only a good thing though really.

I'd be interested to see the Vanish Tub breather system *laugh*

On the subject of intakes, Dave, I'm currently running the airbox you supply & fit and the car has been mapped at Emerald with this setup, but in the hunt for more induction noise (superficial I know!!), would there be any implications of moving to an open air filter such as below?

I assume the fuel rail prevents the use of an off-the-shelf backplate, but other than mounting issues, would I need to worry about more serious things like AFR / a remap?

In an ideal world, I'd like to have the option where I can have all the glorious noise on the road, but, if on a track day the intake noise is breaching noise limits I could have the option of a painless change over back to the airbox.

  2. Yeah, I'm finding the same issue - there really isn't much suitable choice with our wheel sizes.

I feel slight dubious about UniRoyals as I know one of the S2000 lads runs these during the winter and reports that they feel like 'jelly molds' with their soft side walls!

Appreciate the S2000 is more than twice the weight and the size & profile of the tyre is very different, but with the 7 needing even bigger side walls I can't see it being better...

  3. For the tyres in question, it'll mainly be for the long jaunt to Le Mans and back (1200 miles), plus other touring around the country. Would like them to still have decent amounts of grip for the odd B-road blat along the way, but I'm more than aware that they won't compete with semi-slicks for grip. They will not be used on-track.

On these, possibly 2000 to 3000 miles

Wet grip, fairly important, as no doubt I'll be caught in the rain on long drives across the country but not sure I'd need to go as far as Rainsports

  4. Hey folks,

Just looking at my tyre options for touring, my Compomotives are 13x6 front and 13x7 rear.

Wanting to avoid semi-slicks (R888R, ZZS, ZZR) as munching through that expensive rubber on the motorway just doesn't seem sensible!

What do others on 13"s use if wanting to avoid semi-slicks? Doesn't seem to be a lot out there when looking at various sizes?

    185/60/13
    185/55/13
    205/60/13
    215/55/13

Maybe I should consider getting some other wheels for touring?

  5. Cool - thanks Dave, that makes sense.

I don't have a multi meter, but I think I should invest in one.

I belive the switch has already been replaced as it looks brand new compared to the rest of the switches (sun faded), but still worth changing it out.

I have an inkling that it could be the intermittent wipe "black box", if I have one, so will be looking at that too.

For future reference though, where is the park motor switch and what does it look like?

    Thanks again!
